I am reading all these old posts and guys knocking off 80lbs in 3 or 4 months? Am I doing something wrong? I am racking my brain making myself anxious and thinking I am not doing this right. I am about be at 4 weeks and barely 20lbs. Am I eating too much? I can't be I am not eating very much of anything. I am bumming out guys. Please
You say you've read posts of guys knocking off 80 pounds in 3 or 4 months? Do the math, 80 pounds in 4 months is 20 pounds a month. You've lost 16 to 20 pounds in a month? Seems kinda typical, huh?
You may be eating too much, I know when I was 4 weeks out I couldnt eat any of the things you listed in your original post. It all depends on the surgeon, if that is what you are told you can eat, than so be it. I would lay off the beef jerkey for now, and the Pringles should be a no-no for the rest of your life.
Chill out brother, it will all work out. Take care.

Hey Bob....
I read the previous post, and now this one....seems like you are making great progress....
that you are already doing the cardio is fantastic....and that you can eat beef jerky this soon out is good too...
since you are in the honeymoon phase where you loose really fast, you may want to really kick the carbs out to help you...I don;t know but that muscle milk,at least the one that I know of has high carbs too...
on the 6th pringle....you might have dumped...welcome aboard....I did an anger eat of 2 bites of chocolate cake, and went fetal...that will get better...you will miss it soon,,
you know with these new profiles, I guess that since you dumped, you had an RNY, and it doesn't say what your start weight was.....but It seems like you are on track....
you know what everyone says....you didn't get fat over night, you can't get think over night..but Damn, some of these dudes just vanish....
keep you eye on the prize, cut the carbs, and keep your fluids up....
you texas brother...

you just got the right answers there tx. one thing they'll all tell you on this board, don't compare. we each lose our own way. for me, i would stay at one weight for 3 to 4 weeks then drop 5 pounds and it would never come back. others drop steady all the way to goal. so you're not doing bad. expect stalls and platues and don't freak out, you're losing faster than i did at your stage. so hang in there, it's a hell of a ride.....Carbonblob
Ditto to all of the above.
Also, have you gone to visit the Feb 2007 board??
You and I have the same surgery date and I can say you are way ahead of me on the foods you can eat, yet I know that I am way ahead of many others at this point.
As far as the rate of loss, don't forget to also consider it in the percentage rates that Dx has posted previously. This week, I believe. I started at 409 on day of surgey and am down 37 lbs and excited as all get out! After crunching the numbers on that it puts me on pace to be losing about 10% total body weight and 14% excess body weight per month. Plug that in to any set of statistics you want and get any answer you want, but the bottom line is this: It is an individual program with individual results.
Be proud of your accomplishments and use them as fuel to work for your dream, whatever it may be!
Rob,
I don't think there is such of a thing as typical. Everybody’s metabolism is different. I wouldn't stress myself with 'so-n-so' is losing faster than me... Just be happy with your own progress. Every pound gone is one more pound towards your own personal goal. I personally think you are doing awesome! Averaging 5# per week!! 5 X 52 weeks would be 260# in a year if you maintained that pace... is that really too slow?
Semper Fidelis!
One other thing I can't emphasize enough is to keep up your intake of good ole fashioned water. It's not as tasty as some of the other things, but there are many, many, many success stories on the boards that included huge volumes of water. While I was losing rapidly, I tried to get in at least three quarts a day. Even two years out, I usually get two quarts of water plus all my other liquids. Pee like a racehorse and the weight will come off.
