Hair on the stomach and surgery?

Doug, First, let me welcome you to the locker room.  Don’t be afraid to ask any question that comes to your mind; someone will answer it. As for shaving, my belly was completely shaved; but it was no big deal.  It will itch a little for the next week or so, but it grows back.  What’s worse, but not much, is getting the adhesive from the surgical tape off of your skin; but that isn’t anything to worry about either.  It comes off quite nicely with lacquer thinner and a steel brush… just kidding.  It will come off eventually in the shower but it takes some time.   Good luck!  It will be a cakewalk for you.  We’ll see you on the loser’s bench on Monday.

In my situation they just shaved five little spots where they made the surgery... not big deal at all...

I would have to say that this was the most shocking thing waking up after surgury. Not one stitch of hair from my neck to my pubs....somebody had a good time. I felt violated....LOL Rob DC

That is just plain wrong! I'll be sure to smile a lot and be nice to the staff so I don't wake up completely hairless. Sorry you had to go through that!! Someone clearly was having fun.

i was shaved, had an anal probe and nude pictures taken before the procedure and that was just for the dentist! i should have listened a little more closely when he said you're going to feel a little *****! Carbonblob

Hey Doug, I guess I'm alone in shaving myself before surgery. About a week before surgery I talked to a guy who had surgery 3 months prior who told me that the hospital will dry shave my stomach. There's a small forest growing on my stomach and that was enough inspiration for me to lather up and shave the night before surgery. The nurse didn't know I had done this until she had the razor ready. She laughed and told me she hadn't seen that one before. It's true about the tape and the itching, nothing you won't forget about down the road. The pain, itching, tape, not being able to eat much, on and on are not even in the same universe in comparison to the way you will feel a few months after surgery.  See you on the loser's bench!!

Sorry guys just peeking in the locker room.  Female here.   Guess what I don't have any hair on my abdomen and I still got shaved.  Go figure?

For me (LapBand), they shaved pretty much all of it between the nipples and belly button.  Trust me you will be happy they did when you go to have the steristrips and adhesive tape removed.  Here's a tip to make it easier (told was a nurse's trick) let them use rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and follow the adhesive strip, makes it come off like nobody's business.
