Update with my meals and a new found talent

At work with not  much to do right now, so I figured I'd give the boys a food update. I posted the other day that I was looking for ideas for food because I was having trouble with most stuff.  Monday I tried some haddock florentine. My father in law bartends part time at this restaraunt. They special made the haddock for me with no oil, butter, etc. Haddock went down good. So I figured I would try the spinach. WRONG!! The spinach put me over the edge and I was uncomfortable as all hell. So I go in the bathroom to stick my finger down my throat. No need to. My new found talent is being able to vomit using my stomach muscles. Tuesday I ate chicken for the first time. Made fajitas for the wife and boy so I tried some. A little black bean, sour cream, onions, peppers, and some Cracker Barrel 2% crumbled cheese(very good). Went down good and stayed down. Yesterday I tried out the sliced turkey with the low fat cheese stick dipped in fat free ranch. Pretty good. I forgot the horseradish at the store so that has to wait. Today I ate some eggs  and finished breakfast with .......FRUIT. It was great. A little fruit salad with melon, watermelon, grapes and pineapple. Looking up.

Wow, thats great.  I am at 5 months and still struggle with fish and chicken.  Sometimes it stays down but most times, it gurgles around or comes back and messes up my protein and water intake for 2-6 hours.  BUT,...I'm not frustrated,..nope,... not a bit.  I am glad you are having success with some variety.  Just don't push the envelope too often.  We don't want to stretch that little pouch back into the monster it once was.

Thomas, Good Morning, How are You?  I found the "trial and error" process to be kind of annoying. In the first two months I would spend a lot of time at the store reading labels, looking at food pictures on boxes, and it drove my wife completely crazy. Sounds like you're doing great with the process though. I'm going to leave you with a list of foods that "I" do well/not so well with.  Steak- Afraid to eat it for first 3-4 months, but now chew well or gets stuck in stoma and I have to vomit, otherwise no problems. Chicken- if it's dry, chew well or it's gets stuck in stoma and I have to vomit, otherwise no trouble at all. Fish (all)- no trouble at all. Deli Meats- First few months, hated it, tasted funny, but now tastes great, I always have it sliced at deli. Pasta- doesn't make me sick, but I don't find the same pleasure in eating it anymore. I think it's mental because I know it has a lot of carbs. All veggies- no prob Weight Control Oatmeal- couldn't eat it at first, now its greatness Eggs- Scrambled, Fried, Deviled, make sure you watch how you're cooking them, I use cooking spray for fried and scrambled, FF mayo in Deviled eggs. Bread- At first I had to toast it to eat it, now no problems.  Peanut Butter- made me sick to my stomach about a month out, now I avoid it.  Nuts (all)- no problems ever Fruit (all)- no problems ever These are just a few foods that I could think of off the top of my head. If you have any questions, send them to me. Of course, everyone is different, what works for me may not work for you, but it might. It gets so much easier to eat at about 4 months out. It seems like a long time, but will be here before you know it. Right now, just remember to chew your food up real good so that big chunks don't get stuck in the stoma.  At 6.5 months out I still try to chew well, but don't have to puree my food in my mouth like I used to. It makes eating so much more enjoyable. There is no doubt, it will get better. Happy Eating!
