yeah Floyd, the pain is just unbearable today. he's so sick but we're determined to make him comfortable or anything else possible. he's just been so special. you know only a small percent something like 1% of dogs get the kind of epilepsy he has and we saved him for so long. it's just not fair but thanks for the kind words......Carbonblob

CB, So sorry to hear about your dog…. That’s always a sad time… Sorry I missed posting your earlier thread. (Dan and I are both having ‘glitch issues’ with the Board since the upgrade…) I dropped a butt-load of stuff about Post-Op Pain and Persistent Pain on the WLS-Wiki site (On that ‘other Board…’) If there is any way I can help with your commitment to add to the understanding of this area Hollar out and I’ll see what I can do. All of this business is really about yelling back down the stairs to say- "Watch it Guys!! There’s a Loose Step up here!!! Careful when you get to the one that…."

Seems to me, that’s all we really have to offer… OK, That and the humor, and the – "Hey, Look What I found!!"

OK, Probably tons of stuff… If I can be of Help, let me know. Sounds like you’ve got a good dialog started with your Doc That’ll help him with his other and future patients… Keep it Up!! Hang in there with your pup! Best Wishes- Dx

thanks Dx, i don't know what the wiki board is but i surely understand your post to me. all i can offer is a "watch your step" and i'm here if you need me. a lot of people prefer the 90 meetings in 90 days and thats a damn good one too. if that doesn't work, they promise you your misery back. fair deal. i think just hearing a story from one person with an eating or any any other disorder, talking to another on their level is the best way to go. you know docs and shrinks are great but sometimes it just comes down to one grungy addict helping another because we share the same experience. you look at the one who made it and maybe think, yeah, i can do it. that's all i'm telling the shrink when i see here tuesday. i have to admit, i don't care about anything right now except Chili and his health so everything is a back seat right now. trying to stay a little normal for myself by coming here and posting. seems to eleviate the pain for a bit. thanks......carbonblob

thanks so much for being there Greg. i went out on an estimate today and gave the people my card. of course it's named after Chili and has his picture on it and i got choked up. not good in front of a client but they were friends. as for the detox, i see my pain doc on tues and the detox doc on friday so last friday was me first day with no pills. i feel weak and of course can't stop thinking about anything but Chili so i'm dropping weight because i don't even want to eat. what a messed up month this has been but i'll pull through thanks to you guys......Carbonblob

Sorry to hear about Chili, Blob.  We don't have kids either and I know what you mean about them being part of the family.  We have two rescued basset hounds. The younger one, a female has been through the ringer with a broken leg, and addison's disease.  It's heartbreaking and I have a feeling that something else is just lurking around every corner with her.  She'll probably not live her full lifespan is my guess. While it's never going to be easy to deal with their inevitable losses, I have found a lot of comfort in books by Jon Katz.  He's an amazing guy to read.  He really gets dogs.  You'll bawl over a couple of them, particularly A GOOD DOG and A DOG YEAR, but I really recommend every book he's written to dog lovers. You're having a tough week!  I hope there's a little sunshine around the corner for you buddy. Ken

thanks so much Ken, we had a couple come over to the house last night. they're moving to colorado and they came by to say goodbye to Chili. it's just been a living hell since we found out saturday. i just can't do anything except come here and read and reply to posts. it seems to help me forget for at least a minute. i sure hope all goes well for your critters too. they say dogs are built in heartbreak. **** why can't they live forever? So sorry to hear about Chili, CB! I was just catching up reading the forum and noticed your post.  This is definitely a hard time you're going through.  Pets can be such a big part of our lives. We lost our Springer this past summer and it was a tough one.  Even though he was fourteen and we knew his time had come, it was/is still difficult.  I still expect to see him trotting out to greet me when I come home. Enjoy the time you have with him.  The memories of his devotion to you and your wife won't fade. Matt
