Bob, I have been following your posts and I fully understand how you are feeling right now.  I also know that you are committed to the WLS journey and you will certainly succeed; but I also know the anticipation of WLS is filling you with nervous anticipation.  Do you have to do a six month pre-op diet or have to lose a certain amount of weight before you can be approved for surgery?   My suggestion for you at this point is to just do your best to learn to eat healthy foods and get in some walking.  Eat your fill of meat and vegetables, but stay away from the Little Debbie’s and other sweets.  Also do your best to avoid snacking, unless it is fresh fruit or veggies.  A pound lost now is a pound you won’t have to lose later.  I know it won’t be easy; I’ve been there.  You can also practice eating slowly and chewing well.  It will drive you crazy at first, but you’ll learn to enjoy what you eat rather than wolfing it down just to fill your stomach.  Take Paul in Dallas up on his offer.  He has been successful and his advice is always good.  Also read his profile.  He has a lot of excellent advice.   Once you get approved for WLS, follow whatever diet your surgeon recommends.

What i found that has helped me out a lot is to weigh everything. I was always a big eater. I work outside and use up a lot of energy. So even at times when I was eating foods that are good for you I was eating way to much. I am in the process of loosing the pre surgery weight. I have lost 21 od the 72 needed before surgery.  since nov.

It is tough staying on track at times but my best motivation is my loving wife and 20 month old son.
