Fred:
Congratulations on your last day of detox! I was relieved to read your message and hear of your progress. I, too, agree that you would be a great person to work with a support group. Don't ever consider yourself an imposter. You've come face to face with your demons - an imposter has never been there. Your success will serve to inspire others who feel there may be no hope for them in their current situations.
Interest and experience with the support group process will also help make you a great leader! You will learn what works and what doesn't. I'd recommend some training if there is some available. Everyone is a little different in the way they process information and work through their problems. There are some good general guidelines in group dynamics and they would be good to have under your belt.
Good luck!

Fred,
As usual the members of this site have responded to a need with such wonderful advice. You have been granted a great oppotunity to help others. With the psych running the group, your most important role is to show that success is posible. You know how an addict feels useless and has little self esteem. Seeing a person like you that has beaten the demons and has enough self esteem to talk about it in public illustrates to the others that they can also be successful based on your presence.
