Mon/Wed/Fri   30 minutes of treadmill or eliptical followed by 50 crunches Tu/Th  20 minutes of cardio followed by 4 leg machines and 4 upper body machines.  I do 3 sets of 10.  Have not seen very impressive results yet.  I am re-evaluating right now though.  I have very strong legs and weak upper body.  I am thinking of ignoring the bottom half and hitting the arms chest and back a lot harder for a few months.  Any cautions?

no cautions here Scott. eventually you'll need to do all parts again just maintain symmetry. however, real strength comes from those leg workouts. if it's upper body you're after again, i would follow Dave's workouts and now some of the other guys routines. stick with the basic moves like benches, squats, curls, presses etc. the compound moves will help with the mass. also, make sure you're getting a ton of protein in. take shakes if you need to get more in. i'm actually not that strong but i have a pretty good upper body because i stick to basics and use good form. try to keep your body fat low, kick in high protein, use basic compound exercises and give it a year! you'll see results. also, try to push a little more everytime like some of the other guys have mentioned. your body will get used to pushing the same weight and not grow. muscles only do three things. get big, get small or stay the same. to get big you need to stress them and then let them rest. that's when they get big actually, on your days off. so i bet you'll see results using this formula in just weeks to a couple months. good luck.....Carbonblob

Hi CB, I do weight training on M-W-F at the office park gym I normally do 3-4 miles on treadmill at an 8 degree incline at 4.2-4.5 miles per hour. I combine this with two full weight circuits of the following; + Start out with 15-20 inclined sit-ups and stretching + Two 10 rep sets on stomach crunch machine @150lbs + Three 10 rep sets on on leg lift machine @120lbs + Three 5 rep sets on leg press machine @320lbs + Three 10 rep sets on assisted dips and pull-up machine + Three 10 rep sets on lat machine @200lbs + Five 10 rep sets doing bicep curls (50lbs) alternating with three 5 rep sets on bench press @160lbs + Three 5 rep sets doing squats @150lbs + Three 10 rep sets on mid rowing machine @200lbs On Saturday and Sunday me and my black lab Jack walk between 5-7 miles each day depending on the weather and temp. I have been on this routine now since last July and it has worked well for me. I have steady increased the weight over the past three months and raised my walking speed and incline. I typically burn around 1200 calories per work out. My weight has stabilized at 244lbs now and it has been steady for about a month. I am 10 months out of surgery and I have lost 216lbs so I am happy where I am but I would still like to drop 20 more pounds just for bragging rights.

that is a fantastic circuit you're doing. very aerobic. i can only do 20 minutes on my treadmill at 3.8 at 12 degrees! i just hate jogging! you're only 10 months out so those last 20 will come off. keep taking protein and lots of water and those pounds will drop. it's sure not for lack of exercise. I think i might copy this routine for my brother. i think it would work very good for him. he's amazing. he's lost a half pound a day for the last month and a half on jenny craig. **** wish i could do that! take care......Carbonblob

Hello everyone.... I have a question....What language are you speaking....I think I'd have better results learning to write DOS code...geeez.... for the past 4 week nothing....and it drives me crazy...tomorrow I get the last drain pulled...and then I can go into the germ laden gym.... hee is my rouine...I drink a REDLINE in the paring lot.. I go in and do eliptical for 5 mins, then I pick a color.....I do all the black machines, and then the grey machines, if no one else is using them...then the burgandy machines.... the pink machines are always last..they are nasty... if no one is back there I do the dumb bells, if someone else is there I wait till they leave...I never touch the barbells...I never touch the beach balls...they make you fall...especially the green one...nasty... all of these machines I do 15 repititions, 2 rounds...then 45-to 1 our on cardio...then I eat a subway salad.... hope this made you laugh... next week I start from scratch...probabely back on the recumbant bike....less room to fall..wide seat.... less than 24 hours with this drain...thank gawd.... see y'all russ

Ok..that made me laught...though I have to confesss, I actually -do- drink a Redline before each workout. :)  The gym was out of them a few weeks ago, so I tried one called Speed Freak.  Much more of a fat burner I think.. I'll stick to my redlines :)
