Hey boys 5 weeks out and 50 lost. Down to a XXl shirt and almost 42" waist. Scrubs at work are down XL pants but still a XXXL shirt because they are too cheap to buy new longer XXL shirts. Things are going alright. Still having trouble with some food. Pretty much sticking to ground turkey, turkey chili, yogurt and yogurt smoothies. Still no red meat, pork, or lamb till May. Things would so much easier if I could eat ground beef, I think. Also back to the powder protein. Gotta hit GNC for something other than Chocolate though. Started doing crunches and push ups along with the treadmill. Looking at a couple gyms today. How long is it before I can drink fluids normal? Right now I am sipping or a little more. I also subscribed to Men's Fitness. Pretty good magazine. Anyone else read it? Any others that are better?

You are going to think I'm nuts but, here's waht my CNP and nutritionist told me at 6 weeks, phaseIII reintor of meats,....you ready??? Wendy's chili goes down great. They were right too. I also found sucking the insides out of a Taco Bell Beef and Bean burrito or the pintos and cheese goes down really well too. Not trying to corrupt you but sharing little secrets that aren't written on the diet plans. 50 in 5 weeks is excellent dude. Way to go! Hang in there. My next secret weapon is Pure Protein (brand name); flavor Choclate Deluxe, 20 gm protein bars, (Wal-Mart) you are suppose to drink 8 oz of water with when you eat them. Yum! Down 128 at 5 months; open RNY. Joe

Just got back from GNC and bought there pro performance powder. Chocolate Caramel and Cookie and Cream. We'll see. I am hooked right now on Panera Bread Turkey and Chick pea chii. Hormel turkey chili in the can isn't bad. One can gets me about 3 meals. On sale 2 for a dollar and I'm set for awhile. I wouldn't mind eating out the insides of some Taco Bell. Love that stuff. Maybe a bean burrito would help.

hey Thomas, I use the designer whey vanilla flavor because it has no taste, at least for me. i mix it in milk or hot chocolate. also, you'll be able to chug water in time. right now just sip away. i think it's great you're exercising and reading fitness mags. all of these things will help to keep you motivated. the best of course is watching those inches come off. keep up the good work.......Carbonblob

Hey Thomas sounds like you are doing great. My surgeons Phy. Asst. told me that I could drink normally after about a week, by normal I mean a small drink, not chugging it like we use to. He told me water and other liquids will pass right through. He said that they don't want you to chug a big drink so it doesn't hit your new stoma and stress it while it is healing and to get you use to the fact that your stomache is different and our way of eating and drinking must change as well. I am 8 1/2 weeks out and swallow what I think is normal, must be two or three ozs. at a time I would think. My biggest problem is chewing well and not taking to big of bites. pam head

Hi Thomas, I live in Japan, which is why I'm so little help to people just post-op. They have very few SF things here, so I had to go really really simple. One thing I can offer is a cheap source for protein, since I've bought all of mine on line. Allstarhealth.com is much cheaper for most things than GNC or any other store. I just use vanilla no carb Isopure. Good Luck, Dave
