The Sunday Weekly Weigh-In
Dx,
The hot bath and message didn't do much good. Felt good though. I seen my eye doc and found out the headaches were caused by my glasses being too strong. I wear progressive lenses and if the optician doesn't place them correctly, then the headaches will continue. In my case they got much worse. Long story short, I went back to the doctor Saturday and had them re-do the prescription and re-adjust my frames. It seems to have worked.
Sorry about the personal post guys. I know this is suppose to be the weigh-in and all. Anyway, I had another great week. Right now I'm siiting at only 1 pound away from the century mark. 99 pounds gone forever!

Well, it's a long story. Sort of..nothing to do with WLS...
In 1990, I was in a car accident that left me with only my right eye. This is where it gets strange....before the car accident I was legally BLIND in my right eye. Do you follow me so far? Crazy! Yes? I could see very little after the accident, but I could see. A few months later I went to an opthamologist that told me I would never see good enough for corrective lenses again. WOW! Fast forward two years later I tried again and this time my vision had improved. Without glasses 20/80, with glasses 20/50. 20/40 is required for driving. (Don't tell anyone, but I was driving anyway.) Every year after that my eye improved all the way to 20/25 which was great. That's when the doctor told me that I had a cataract on my eye, but that he wouldn't touch it until it was his only choice. About 5 years later it got so bad that I could no longer drive at night. That's when I had the surgery. I had an opthamologist that specializes in cataracts, and that had done 1000's of surgeries, do the operation. Side note: I'm not sure what your knowledge of prescription lenses are? Mine before surgery was about +2.00 -5.25. The -5.25 represents the astigmatism. Normal range is about -1.00,-2.00, mine was pretty bad. The doctor also performed LASIK at the same time as the cataract removal. Although it didn't give me perfect vision, it did correct my astigmatism from -5.25 down to -2.50. After cataract surgery the new artificial lense cannot perform like the original so patients have to wear bifocals, trifocals, or progressive lenses to focus up close. That's why I have to wear progressive lenses, and that why my glasses were too strong. My eyesight has improved every year since the eye surgery. So every year the prescription drops a little, which is cool being 36 and having improving vision. Now there is another problem. Only having one eye makes it to where the doc and the optician have to get the prescription just right or I get headaches and nausea. Both happened in my case. The doc had to re-check the prescription (of course it was wrong) and the optician had to re-do it and make sure that my glasses were just right. Now it seems I'm in good shape for another year.
Sorry this was so long. I hope this explains it.

Good morning Dx and guys,
Highest weight and PCP: 343
Signup for WLS surgery: 335
Day of surgery: 317.5
Today's weight: 243
Loss this week: 2
Total lost: 100
Lost since surgery: 74.5
Today marks the first of my century marks. Since I'm not sure whether the century club mark countdown begins with the day of surgery, first *official" recorded weight at start of WLS consults, PCP highest, highest ever, I will not count today as a Century Club day, just a big, grateful FART.
