got a date
hey guys. I have been a lurker on the boards for a while. I have gotten some good info.
I am having LAP-Band surgery on March 5th. Pretty nervous about it, but also pretty excited. The big change in lifestyle feels kind of overwhelming right now. Any words of encouragement...LOL...would be appreciated. Cheers...Paul
Paul,
Have the Greatest!!
In getting through the upcoming anxiety,
Know that most of the Lap-Band folk
Are back home before the flowers get delivered to the hospital.
Pre-op jitters are as common here as deep navals!
Welcome to posting!!!
I hope you find all of the info, experience and support this bunch has to offer!
Don't be a Stranger!!

Paul,
Dxe ain't lying!! I am 11 days out from Lap-Band surgery (Had mine 30Jan07). I arrived at John Warner Hospital in Clinton, IL at 6:30am. Was checked in and in a hospital issue zero modesty gown by 7:30am. In the surgical suite by 8:15am, Recovery at 9:00am. Back to my room at 10:00am, and discharged at 3:00pm. Very minor pain and no external stitches. I just went in for my post-op consult yesterday and was released to return to work with no restrictions effective next Monday. Exactly 14 days off work. I felt like I could have returned to work the same week as my surgery (2-3 days following) but my doctor, and the Liability Carrier at my employer wouldn't allow it. I would be happy to field any questions, and dispel any concerns that you might have. I was on Full Liquids starting 14 days pre-surgery, and 7 days post surgery. During the time since I started the Pre-Op Liquid Diet I have dropped 37.6#. Good luck, March 5th will be here before you know it! Congratulations, and we will clear a spot for you on the Losers Bench!

Paul,
I had the lapband back on Dec 4th 2006. I was jsut as nervous as you. Up until that surgery I had not stayed overnight in a hospital since I was 4 years old to have my tonsills out. I'm now 54 so it's been a long time.
Believe me it's over before you know it and you're home again. The surgery didn't hurt that much it was just being uncomfortable after it. Find out everything about it before you have it. I wound up with 25 staplkes in my stomach when it was done (I wasn't prepared for that). It didn't hurt but it;s just that I wasn't prepared for it.
I know all Dr's are different, I was on a full liquid diet for 3 1/2 weeks prior to surgery and 1 week after. Most weight ws lost in this time period.
I just had my first fill last Fri. and have lost 50 lbs. I know I need to do more exercise.
Just find out everything so that you're prepared for it and best of luck to you.
Dan
