Dan,
I love peanuts!
IMHO an ounce a day for a snack is beneficial. They are one of the nutrition tools, along with fruit, that I have used to keep constipation under control. Sunflower seeds in the shell are good too. The fiber and fat definitely help. Just don't over do it.

Both...Good Protein and essential fatty acids, but over all high in fat content including some saturated fats. The "good fats" that lower cholesterol are the Poly- and Mono-Unsaturated fats. Better ratio of Monounsaturated fats in- Almonds, Brazil nuts, Cashews, and Pumpkin seeds. More Polyunsaturated fats in Pumpkin seeds, and Walnuts.
If you find a roasted soybean you like, such as "Soy-Nutz," Those are good sources of polyunsaturated fat (61%) and monounsaturated fat (24%)
I'm an Almond Eater. Raw Almonds-good fiber, good fats, some bit of protein, keep me fuller, longer....
But peanuts are fine, jus****ch out, they are as addictive as .....
As....eating peanuts!
Best Wishes-
Dx
