Congratulations on your weight loss!! 138 lbs is quite an achievement!! I'm excited when I think that in 8 months time I might have lost something near that number. It's astounding!! Sorry to hear about your job, but it sounds like you have a healthy attitude about it and I'll hope that something new comes along soon!
With your success, do you have any tips for a newbie? I'm almost 3 wks post op, on stage 4 and feeling AMAZING. If not for the almost healed incisions, you wouldn't know I had surgery. However, the scale has not moved one little bit in a week. I was down 15.5 from DOS to my two wk follow up. Not one pound since then. I don't know what's going on!!!!! A friend wondered if I wasn't eating enough, and that could be part of it. Some days, esp if I do ready-made protein shakes (with only 110 cals), I find that I am hovering around 700 cals per day. I'm meeting my protein and fluid goals.
However, when I had my two week follow up, it was with a resident (who even said out loud he didn't know "how to do post op appts") and he said no exercise beyond walking. I just don't think that's cutting it. On top of a) being boring and b) I am a stay at home mom - where I go, she goes, so if I'm walking, I'm pushing a stroller with a 50 lb kid in it.
I'm thinking I should reach out to the dietician and see if she has any suggestions. What are your thoughts?
Thanks!
Kelly

YUM! That sounds great! I've just been putting some water in a small frying pan and covering it, cooking them alone for about 10 mins and then taking the cover off, let the water evaporate and browning them up. I think the one I have is the roasted tomato...I've heard the apple chicken is good too, but haven't tried it yet.
Your preparation sounds really good!

Awesome - we'd love for you to join us :) The majority of members don't check in here that often anymore but we have a group page on facebook! Here is some info for you :)
We meet at 630pm on the last Monday of every month and usually stay until 730 or 8ish. Lisa (the "leader" of the group) owns a preschool and rents her room out of the Faith Chapel Church in Bridgewater so we meet there. We aren't a religious group at all, just a free place to meet! The address is 340 Pleasant Street in Bridgewater and it is right on Rt. 104.
We had a good 18-20 people who show up to each meeting. Mostly women but a good 4 or 5 brave men who come each week too lol! Sometimes people will bring in WLS friendly recipes for us to sample, people do clothing exchanges sometimes and we just all come together for some great support.
Awesome, awesome people who come. LOTS and LOTS of laughs !!

Hi...oh WOW! 5:30...I'm on my way to work at that time:( I go to the gym near the Galleria. I didn't know they had a support group in Bridewater that would be great if you could send me the infomation. Right now I try to get to the only one I know that is from my doctors office in RI , but it's like a 55 min trip there then 55 back. It's a little difficult because i can't leave my kids for 5 hours to attend a support meeting. But, if it's only 20 min away perfect:)

Hi...lol you are one of the few people I've seen that like chicken sausage...my friend introduced them to me because the thought of a hot dog grosses me out! She said to get your favorite kind (i like the roasted tomatoe one) and put a little olive oil in a pan and cut up some red/orange/green/yellow peppers and let soften then.....YUMMY. Cut up the sausage too in small pieces. I have that at least twice a week.

Thanks for the compliment. I really do need to post a new profile pic as the red dress was from December and that was about 40+ lbs ago. My weakness lately is potato chips or White Cheddar UTZ popcorn. I think it is the crunch factor or something.
I need to remember my motivation for the surgery and my goals and get back on track. For the first 6 months I behaved so well a now I am just eating "whatever" without regard for the calories, carbs, etc.
Be careful with solid foods and remember to take small bites, because even at 9 months out I have times when the food gets stuck and I can't eat until it passes and it can be painful until it moves.

I'm thrilled to say that on Wednesday, I was approved for stage 4. I've been enjoying veggie burgers, turkey burgers, chicken sausages (sans rolls, etc), and chili. I feel like a new woman!
Now if I could just get the scale to move! I'm finally down a pound since Wednesday! I think my lack of exercise is to blame. All I can really do is walk, and I only got one good one in. After the two weeks spent recovering, my house was a pit and I spent a good part of Thursday and Friday getting caught up. Weekend is here and hubby is building our deck, so I'm doing the mom thing. My daughter is a big fan of tools, so keeping her out from under her dad's feet has been a chore! I've really had to work at thinking about me and what I need.
I absolutely am going to have to work on willpower too. I've never had it (no kidding, right? probably wouldn't be in this situation if I did!). But cravings are already starting to return. Oh, and it didn't help that my husband made the perfect waffles this morning. No thanks, I'll just have this chalk flavored protein shake...
I know it's going to be worth it. I just can't wait until I can see results! Keep up your hard work ~ you look wonderful and are an inspiration!
