The $400 you need to pay? I was wondering what that fee was. What classes are they? Pre-surgery goal? Who picks the number? From the first 2 hour required information meeting, how long until they book you for surgery?

Thanks!

Excellent thinking! Never think you will be fine. As an old timer, I can tell you, we switch from one thing to another. Please exchange your sugar & old way of eating to positive things. EVERY person I know who had WLS, that didn't pick healthy substitutes, including myself, have had worse issues than weight problems. Addiction to food, you take that away, but you need something to replace it. I wish someone would do a study on this subject, but would everyone be honest...could they? We see it happen between 2-3 years after surgery. Losing homes because of shopping, drinking, drugs, all to excess. Divorce, cheating, you get the idea.

Keep it all positive, and remember... You don't want to gain everything you lost or lose everything you have gained.

Congratulations on getting approved.

Im waiting for insurance approval, but have a date:June 6th at Mt Auburn Hospital.

A friend had her surgery at Lahey and had a great experience, so I think you're in good hands.

Good Luck!

Mal,

Took you 6 years to get your back fixed? I had my Open RNY in '99. I've had 7 spinal surgeries since, and am finally having the revision that I needed in 2000. We are mirror twins!

Hi!

I had Open RNY 11/99. Feel free to ask anything. I just re-stumbled upon this site today, as I was looking up finally having the revision I was told I needed in 2000.

I had my surgery at Faulkner with Dr. Shikora. I can't say enough good things about the hospital. I have met Dr. Spector a few times, and liked him very much.

Good luck, and let us know how it's going.

Topic: I Finally Got A Surgery Date

I have been working on this process with BWH Faulkner Hospital since November 30th 2015.  I was originally scheduled to have my surgery on march 8th, but my insurance company denied my claim because they had no proof that I had been smoke free at least 6 weeks.  I appealed their decision on March 8th and was rewarded with a favorable decision on April 7th.  I am proud and lucky to say that I have a new surgery date for May 17th 2016 and I am so nervous and excited that I have a ton of energy that I just don't know what to do with!

I was wondering if anyone else here is having or has had their surgery at Faulkner Hospital, and also if anyone is going to be having their surgery on the same day as I am.  I would like to connect with some other patients in my area that have been through or are going through the same surgery as myself.  I am not terribly new to this site, but this is my first forum post.  I am looking forward to connecting with some people and possibly making some new friends.

Big Hugs for all you brave souls out there!

Welcome, and good luck on your upcoming surgery. I'm glad you have your dependence on sugar under control. I still don't. It will always be a daily struggle.
