Welcome to the MA Board SkinnyCat is just starting up a support group on the North Shore - you can hit her up for some info. 24lbs in 5 weeks is awesome; don't worry about the numbers so much (I know, I know easier said than done!) Getting in protein after the first few weeks will be hard, try not to worry about that either. Get in your liquids and try to increase your protein little by little. Do you like protein shakes? There are sooo many ways to doctor them up to make them tasty!

Welcome to the board - great group of gals here .. please ask away if you have ANY questions !!!

About a week and a half ago, I had to take my cat to the vets. When I got there and I was standing at the checking in desk, I felt a lil lightheaded. I felt a rush of weakness all of a sudden, so I had the tech grab my cat and I had to sit. It really didnt help much. Then within minutes, I got called into the room. So, there I was sitting the the exam room with my cat (which by the way was really sick. He ended up having emergency surgery within one hour of being there... really stressed me out. I felt like I was losing my baby) Anyway, the vet came in and apparently the tech told the vet that I was not feeling well also, ... THEN... ALL OF A SUDDEN.... out of know where,... while the vet was talking to me, I felt myself losing consciousness... I was sort of blacking out. .... The vet grabbed me as I was about to fall. I woke up .... sort of came out of it... and said I needed to go to the bathroom. I was so embarrassed. I was so fatigued... when I went to the bathroom, .... I had the worst bowel movement EVER.... It was scary and I dont know what it was completely to this day.

My hubby says I was dehydrated, he got me pedialyte and a case of powerade zero. That helped me feel better. But it took 3 days to recoop.

Has anything like this ever happened to anyone post-op?

I just advanced to Stage 4 diet and my dietician says I should be taking in at least 1000 calories a day.... how is that even possible????? As far as the powerade zero or G2 is concerned.... IT TOTALLY WORKS! As long as you drink it all day long... you will not feel as weak. You will know that the electrolytes are working in your body well. That is so important to get in.

Topic: RE: Frustrated about protein and eating
Dawn,

you and I are going through the exact same things. Exact same eating difficulties and exact same feelings. Im having the worst day today. Feeling terrible about my eating habits... or lack thereof. I wish that I had more desire to eat ... and I wish my protein shakes seemed more palatable. So, trust me. Im right there with you. I just hit the week mark on Thursday... two days after you. Ugh. Why is it feel like the world is down on my head. Do you ever feel that way from where you are ... in regards to your progress? Email me anytime.

Topic: Needing some support....
Hello ... Im Jessica, I live in Salem, NH and I had RNY surgery exactly 5 weeks ago in Boston, Ma. I would like to find a post-op support group to go to locally to me. Does anyone have any information on any support groups locally to me or where I work, in the Haverhill area. I need support right now from those who have been through this. Im only getting in about 500-600 calories a day and I practically live on tea and sugar free powerade. It worries me that Im having difficulty getting in my protein that I want. Im hardly ever hungry and that worries me too. Ive lost 24 lbs in 5 weeks and I feel like thats not enough. Im feeling a little down about this. Maybe its the weather. Maybe its other things around me... but it sure would feel so much better to talk to some people who can relate to what Im feeling.

Anyone?

I hate going alone.

I had my surgery done at Brigham and Womens ... my surgeon was Dr. Malcolm K. Robinson, HE IS THE BEST! He will take very good care of anyone that seeks him for surgery. I recommend him!

I am having my lap band surgery on Monday with Dr. Jones at Beth Israel. I have nothing but good things to say about everyone there so far. I am so excited !!! They just called to confirm my arrival time.
