Topic: Looking for Louise from NEMC

I had a check up today at NEMC and hadn't been there since the summer. Does anyone know where Louise is? I have a Red Sox item I would like to send to her. If anyone has contact info can you please pass it on. Thanks

Topic: RE: Doctors.....
I was referred to Dr. Lautz for a RNY (needed hernia repair to be done undone before RNY and no one else would do it).  I made an appointment in October 2009 and the soonest they could see me was June 2010.  My surgery was Sept 2010.  At first I was upset to wait that long but in the end I was glad to have that time to research Dr. Lautz, the RNY surgery and really rationalize it in my mind if I truly wanted to go through with this.

My first visit I waited almost 2.5 hrs to actually see him (waiting room then evaluation by his staff in the exam room).  When he finally did come in the exam room he yawned a few times as we were talking.  I was a little put off but then he apologized that he had just gotten back the day before from a week long conference and he was booked so heavily and at that point had seen close to 100 patients.

Following visits since that initial appointment and during my hospital stay I found him to be a much different doctor.  He is soft spoken and seems reserved, but he is also attentive to your concerns.  I find that he is different than most doctors because he stays until you are satisfied that everything has been answered and explained.  Some doctors have one foot out the door while you are still talking.  My pre-op appt I had a huge list of questions and while it took quite a while to discuss all of them, he never once made me feel like I was monopolizing his time.  At the hospital he explained everything that happened during the surgery and why he chose to do what he did when presented with some issues.  When he asked how my recovery was going and I talked to him about a few things, I was pleasantly surprised that when he left my room, a nurse came in to address the issues within minutes.  I like that he is results oriented like that.

I do agree with most that his staff at times can be less than cordial or "give you that fuzzy warm feeling", but overall as long as they are performing their job and my care runs smoothly then that is all that is important to me.

LOL I thought the same thing - mine was on my left side above my bellybutton like an inch below my last rib and for the fist couple months I bumped into anything and everthing - I thought I was cursed.

After a while though you just get used to it and it doesn't even phase you.

It will be fine.
