Hi,

You are so  nice.  I was so excited, you would think I won the lottery. I was already prepared
to sit there the whole hour reading a book.

If you have any good tips, please let me know.

I haven't made the chunky monkey cookies yet.  Do you make up  these cookies yourself or what website do you get them?

Thanks

Not sure if you'd find a specific one but I would look for a high risk one for sure.

Topic: Yikes...Its really happening...
Hi Everyone!  This is my fist post.. but I've been creeping on the site for a few months now.  My name is Cate, I'm 28 and I live on the South Shore of  Boston.  I am pre-op RNY Gastric Bypass, surgery scheduled for 12/09... I go for my pre-op appt with the anesthesiologist and then with my surgeon.  I started this whole process on Aug 3rd, 2010 and things have been moving SOOOO fast.  I'm not complaining but starting to blackout with the reality of everything.  I started at 286 and now weigh about 246.  I'm wondering how to survive the pre-op diet (figures I start the pre-op diet the day before Thanksgiving...), my doc says 4-5 protein shakes, 1 meal of lean protein & veggies.  What protein powder got you thru this pre-op process?
Any advice/tips you can give would be sooo greatly appreciated!
Thanks again! :)

I did too... I bumped my port into everything!! I found right out of surgery that the port site was very raw and had the sensation of pulling at times. Throughout the years I also found that if I overage my port would hurt, don't ask me why, I don't know. It was hard to feel in the beginning because of the large layer of fat between the port and my skin, but the more weight I lost, the more apparent it was, easier to access as well. Mine was also on my left side below my last rib. I know sometimes they are placing them in the middle instead of off to the side.

My husband and I are currently trying to get pregnant and I choose my OB specifically because they are high risk pregnancy experts. My OB is in Quincy and is associated with South Shore Hospital. Not sure if this is too far or if it's close enough for you, let me know if you want more info.

Donna,

Congrats on your first meeting, don't be discouraged that only one person showed up. The same thing happened to me on my first meeting, only one woman showed when I had at least a dozen confirm they were coming, I was heartbroken, but was determined to make a go of it. Now I have a steady group of ladies that attend that I absolutely adore and their support is invaluable to me. Keep your head up and keep on trucking, more people will come......

Dr.Pecquex at St. Elizabeths in Brighton also performs them, the tricky thing is getting insurance to cover the sleeve, but if your husband has a medical need for the anvil he has a shot and the surgeons petition the insurance company stating medical need. Call Susie at the center for weight control at St.E's and I'm sure she would be happy to help.
