Topic: 6 Days!!!
Hey all. Just updating. Im doing better on the liquid diet. Its stressful and Im tired and I want food but like you all said, I am finding it easier to get along with it. I even find myself trying to remember if Ive had my dinner shake and being like wow..im not even hungry. I have to force it. Crazy huh?

I had my blood work done and my Gastroscopy done. Anesthesia made me woozy and cry alot as it wore off...I was a mess. lol!

Now Im just keeping busy and trying to count down the days til the 9th when I go in for my RNY. Im getting excited. Plus Ive lost weight on the liquid diet. Woots! Im staring to feel better about this all. :)

So on a side note. I mentioned I was having this surgery to a distant cousin who had it approximately ten years ago. She freaked and told me not to because she had complications (needs iron infusions and blood transfusions for a blood disorder due to surgery). She was very negative and I felt like she was bashing my decision to become healthy and happy. She said shed pray for me that it goes well and I dont regret my decision...I didnt know what to say. I wont change my mind but then..I dont really want the negative energy. I hope others wont be so negative in knowing what Ive done to MY body.

Vent=over :)

Love you all. Thanks so much for the support! xoxo

Liana

Hope this was helpful

Hey Jezza!

Welcome to the board ... you'll definitely find some great people and support on here.

Congrats on your weight loss - 184lbs is simply amazing!

Ahhh, loose skin - it sucks! No ifs, ands or butts about it. It is frustrating how friends & family don't quite understand it ... I feel like they think we can just exercise it off and do certain things to tighen it back up. I know that I have some people in my life that think that and I keep trying to tell them that nothing will work, only plastic surgery unfortunately. What kind of insurance do you have? Will they cover a panni at all? BCBS of MA just introduced a new plan where I think they might be covering it soon... Lisa might be able to shed a little more light on that (my insurance changed from BCBS to Tufts, bummer!)

I also just read your blog post on your profile ... I completely understand about the dating situation. I never dated anyone seriously before but met some guys in college ... I would absolutely freak out about getting close to them because I was so big. Now that I've lost weight I think I would freak out even more because my body looks like such a nightmare with all the loose skin. You would think we would be happier with ourselves (and I know that some people ARE!) buts its almost like we trade in one insecurity for another. It just never ends! Arghh!! LOL

Stick around on the boards and you'll get some great responses I'm sure! Best of luck

Topic: Need support
Hi...

I have been a member of this site for quite some time, but never really come on... I have been struggling a lot lately, and could really use some support...so thought I'd come on here and try to find some people to talk to!!!   I'm a little over a year out, and have lost a lot and am doing well physically, but am struggling with some other areas... loose skin specifically, and friends and family members just not understanding... I don't know... just thought I'd vent...thanks for listening! :)

Topic: RE: Update: Presurgical Classes
I would think if VSG is covered in your health insurance policy you will be covered once the request is submitted by your surgical team to your ins. co. (assuming you meet the qualifications) .  The request will include the fact that you do meet the qualifications and why the surgeon and yourself deem that VSG is right for you.

Topic: Update: Presurgical Classes
Update:  I had my first class and did not realize that after these classes I am nearly at the end of my journey!... I am getting nervous and worried that I will not be approved for VSG.  I am not sure what I will do if I have to choose between RNY or the band.   I am worried of the malabsortion issues and the the fact that I am anemic.  (one of the main reasons why I have chosen the VSG)  I am hoping that my insurance company will approve me based on my issue...   Any words of wisdom?
