Hi,

Congratulations on your loss!  These might not be close enough but I've met both of these peole and liked them.

This woman specializes in bariatric patients and actually had gastric bypass herself years ago.  I have blue cross also and it was covered.

This woman also specializes in Bariatric patients. Not sure on the insurance.  She does have a monthly support group meeting that I don't think my insurance covers.

Or you could call the hospital in your area and talk to the staff of the bariatric surgeons and I'm sure they could recommend some.

Happens to everyone.  All you can do is say "what's done is done" and keep trying to make better choices.  I struggle with my "everything in moderation" philosophy, but I know deprivation will only lead to disaster for me.

Just keep yourself accountable somehow - journal your food or post here or whatever works for you!

Hi there,

I can tell you that pretty much every bariatric surgical program that I know of has a resident psychologist or psychiatrist on staff. I know at St.Elizabeths where I went and at Tufts you can make appointments with them on a regular basis if need be. If their location isn't convenient for you, try asking them for a referral for someone closer to you. Hope this helps!

Topic: RE: Dr. Lautz - Consultation vs Actual Surgery Date
Hi,
He's my surgeon and he's awesome!  One of the best in New England!  What are those classes you mentioned?  I didn't have to do any classes.
You will get your surgery date at your consultation appt. unless they have changed the process.  He is the ONLY one in his office that does it like this...you will also get the list of your preop tests, etc.  The surgery date will depend on how booked up he is.  He is so very busy as everyone wants him as their surgeon...
I have had two WLS and he did both of them.  I remember picking the month I wanted the surgery done due to work committments so I had both surgeries in June, different years of course.
Good Luck!
Valerie

Topic: Bariatric therapists???
I'm a little over a year post-op. I have lost 101lbs so far and while I certainly don't want to go back to my old self, my new self is having a difficult time.
I have moved back to the North Shore after living in the Berkshires for 8 years. While I didn't attend many support groups out there, I could talk to my RN if I needed to. Now that Ive moved back home, I have no idea where to go for help. I found a psychiatrist/RN who deals specifically with bariatric patients but she doesn't accept Blue Cross so I have to pay her $125 per visit. Needless to say, this can only happen once a month.
I saw that there is a OH Support group in Beverly once a month but Ive never been good in group support settings. Does anyone know of other bariatric therapists on the North Shore? Or a program at a hospital or something? Anything?
