Topic: RE: Did anyone have surgery at Tobey Hospital in Wareham?
I had my surgery 3/29/11 with Dr. Streeter at Tobey. Uneventful, comfortable and discharged the next day at about 3pm. I am still off work, took plenty of time though I really could have gone back about 10 days ago. First few days at home I was so tired, I slept so much it was hard to get in the walks/water/food. I never took pain meds at home, but utilized the Morphine Drip in hospital. The nursing staff was wonderful!! It is so nice to be somewhere that really specializes in this type of surgery. I have Tufts and did a 6 month program (over the phone) with them, and my whole process with Tobey took about 4 months (not including a delay of about 2 mos. due to me not having the $$ for the group sessions) Hope your surgery went well, and that you are recuperating well!

I will be having surgery April 20th. feeling a bit stressed by it. But I know 6 people who had sergery there before I started the process. I went to the seminar in November. But asked to have it done this month back then. (if possible) and it just so happened to work out.
Topic: RE: Surgery Question
Sounds like it'll work out fine... there's really not much you could do sitting at the hospital other than wait for a phone call that he's in recovery.
I think discharge is at like 10 or 11AM but my b/friend worked until 3:00 that day and picked me up after work (like 4ish) they WILL NOT kick him out of his room!!! Don't bring much cuz they have everything he'll need!! I brought my ipod/cell phone and charger cuz it's $15 a day for their phone and $15 a day for tv service! They have WiFi in all the rooms too so if I wasn't sleeping or walking around I was surfing (using my phone) . I got the TV service but was a waste since I was walking around or sleeping most of the time. Believe it or not surgery/recovery is a breeze and pain free cuz they'll give him medication!! He'll be just fine!!!! The hardest part for me was sipping which seemed impossible!!! Advice to you.... be patient with him and encourage him to get up and walk around once he's in his room!
Best of EVERYTHING to your hubby and your rejuvenated family!!!! This is gonna be an amazing journey for all of ya!!!

Sorry for the delay in my reply. Yes, Dr Shah is doing it. He had all of his pre op appts today and he said it went well. Thank you so much for your offer to watch our daughter. I was able to figure out a solution...kind of. She'll be with us in the am and then I am going to drive her back and she'll stay with my IL's and I am hoping to be back at the hospital before he is out of surgery. I really appreciate your offer.
What time were you discharged? I can't get out of work too ealy on Wed so I was planning on getting there around 2:30. Today he was told he'd be out of there by noon...is that accurate???
What else do I need to know? I like to have my ducks in a row and I feel like they aren't....

Topic: schlerotherapy at Brigham and women's
Hi everyone, I am 2 years out from my RNY and had stopped losing at 10 months out and have pretty much maintained my weight loss (65 lbs) since then give or take like 10 pounds up and down. my doc works with another doc at B&W that does this therapy via endoscope. I have toyed with the idea for about a year and am now seriously consideriing since I am not where I want to be. I have only lost a little over half of my expected weight loss. so I am wondering, has anyone heard about this therapy/procedure? Anyone had it done? This doc at B&W endoscope invented the procedure and it really isn't done too many places. Thanks
Topic: RE: Northshore OH Support Group Get Together
Hi,
Your group is fairly new, isn't it? I think we spoke before.
Well, my group started back in Oct 2010. I had 1 person the second week. She left. Then I had 2 other people for 2 to 3 weeks. They quit. Then 1 other person for 2 weeks. I called her (when I was alone) from the last meeting. She said "I thought you would have more people?"
It only takes 2 people to start a group.
Have you been to any of the telephone monthly leader meetings yet? Someone from another state told me "Don't be discouraged, I have been doing this for six years and sometimes I have no one." She also said "it takes sometime."
Try advertising. Have you gone into www.vistaprint.com yet? I went crazy. I bought a logo, business cards, a banner, t shirts, refrigerator magnets and car advertising magnet. I also built a website. I went nuts, I surprised my husband didn't yell at me. LOL. Good website. Check it out. John, I am not giving up. I out business cards at my nail salon, my chiropractor, Shaw's supermarket etc.....
I am not giving up because I am doing this for myself not just for other people.
I am usually a quiter.
Check out my website. www.northofbostonwlssupportgroup.com
Hang in there. Don't give up. Good luck.
