Topic: RE: South Shore Support Group?
Yes it is open. It is a great group that meets once a month in Bridgewater. The next meeting is April 25th I believe at 6:30. It is at a church that is on Route 104. I'm sure somebody will send a message with the church name. The people are really nice. Everyone participates and you learn a lot about what your going to go through and how to deal with different emotions. Also they share recipes and there favorite protein drinks and hints. They also get together at various charity walks. Fun group!
Topic: South Shore Support Group?
I joined awhile back and introduced myself but have been overwhelmed by the process that I haven't been posting! I just received a surgery date for next month, May 24th. I'm excited and nervous so I figure I'm right on track!
Many posts ago I saw a mention of a south shore support group but couldn't find the info for it. Does anyone know if that's an open group? I would definitely be interested in something like that if it is. Thanks!

Topic: RE: 13 days and counting... First day of liquid diet... AHHH!
Hey Amy congrats... the waiting is the hardest part!!!
Liquid protien shakes are gonna be your "thing" for a while so it's good to sort of teach your brain to enjoy/expect them... you get one "sensible" meal right or are you ALL liquid??
If you have a blender throw in some cubes and make it a chocolate /slushy/milkshake textured treat. It's important to stick with it... will make the procedure a breeze for your surgeon!

I was just at the BWH clinic last week and they had people completing a survery while they were waiting about an endoscopic bariatric surgery. It didn't say whether it was already going on or not though.

I know it will fly by, but today was slower than molasses... 13 sleeps from now the surgery will be done and I couldn't be happier (although more nervous than I thought I'd be)
Any thoughts on how to get through the BWH pre-op liquid diet? I know each hospital is different but I'm looking for ideas so I don't get sick of cold, chocolate protein shakes. :)

Topic: RE: Long day-surgery is done!
Yikes, that was a long day! Wonder why everythkng took so long!?!?? Anyway, the hard part is over, he'll be in MUCH better spirits today!!!! The anesthesia wipes ya out. He should be up walking around this morning... walking does wonders for recovery !!!
Topic: Long day-surgery is done!
Wow, we've had a long day-as expected! Checked in at 6:30a and they took him promptly at 8:30a. I was surrised the Dr didn't come by the bed to chat before the surgery. She called me right before 1pm to say he was in the PACU. At that pont I went back to the hospital but foolishly didn't realize that family wasn't welcome in the PACU. Thats not standard everywhere and I wish I had realized. He got to a room at 5pm and I was so greatful to see him! He was obviously very sore and wiped out. I am planning on heading up there tomorrow after work.
Topic: RE: 3 more weeks!!
Hi Mary,
Congratulations! I had RNY at Winchester hospital also. The staff there were great. I was very nervous and they put you at ease. The stay there went by very fast. Make sure you do all the walking they tell you to do! Good luck!

Topic: 3 more weeks!!
It seems like it's taken me forever to get to this point.
RNY scheduled for 5/9 at Winchester Hospital with Dr, Sandor. I can't believe it's almost here!!
I plan on taking 8 weeks off, I'm a nurse so I will have some restrictions on lifting and such.
Also my daughter who dances has a competition the Sat after my surg date, I'm hoping that things go well and I'll be home to see her dance.
8 more shifts to go!!
