I went to the Umass meeting which was good. It was really focused around the band and RNY. I am self pay so Umass was not a option so I'm going to NC 2 weeks from tomorrow to  be sleeved. My brother in law is going to Umass for the RNY and a friend was banded there and very happy!

Hi Donna :)

The majority of RNY patients actually do not dump.  Only about 30% do.  Some people can dump on a VERY small amount of sugar (say 6 grams) and some do NOT dump at all (me!)

Sometimes I wish I did dump so I could limit myself to some of the foods I eat.

Hey Liana =)

Sorry you're having a rough time ... it does suck sometimes. I know all too well about thebad eating habits, I have found myself sinking back into the habit. You are realizing what you're eating sometimes may not be the best .. that is step #1. Bringing attention to the situation is a good thing. Have you tried to journal your food? It helps me to realize just how much I'm eating when I write it all down.

I also don't dump .. I can eat any amount of fat or sugar and don't feel sick. My program wants us to keep our meals under 14 grams of sugar ... I've had some food with over 40 grams of sugar in it at once and did not dump. It sucks!!

You are still losing weight, which is great! This surgery can play with our head sometimes and make us go crazy! I know how you feel about mourning the loss of your clothes... hang in there - it will get better

Topic: Bridgewater/So. Shore Support Group
Hey everyone!  Wow, I haven't posted here in forever .....  lately I've seen some posting inquiring about a support group in the So. Shore area .... here is some info for anyone who would like to attend!  We are an open group and anyone and everyone is welcome :)

The next meeting is this coming Monday, April 25th at 630 pm! We meet inside the Faith Chapel Church on Rt. 104. It is between Star's Market and the police station in Bridgewater. The physical address is 340 Pleasant St. We are a non-religious meeting, it is just a free spot to meet since Lisa owns the pre-school inside the church. We have about 30+ people in our group and a good 20 or so attend each meeting. Mostly women and about 5 or 6 brave men! We are very laid back and talk about pretty much everything and anything! The meeting usually lasts about an hour to an hour and a half .. some people leave early and there are a few of us stragglers who stay a little later LOL! I consider these people great friends and I am so glad I started coming to this support group! The majority of people have had RNY, a few with the lap-band and a few with the sleeve. Pre and post op welcome! Also, feel free to bring anyone with you that would like to attend (significant other, spouse, children etc.) Our friends bring their 5 yo daughter if you have any young children ... children are always welcome at our meeting! We meet inside a preschool classroom so lots of stuff to keep them entertained!

Hope to see ya there Let me know if you have any other questions!
