My first appointment with the surgeon was in April. I needed to decide if I wanted a Lap band or a by-pass. I decided on the By-pass in early May and had my surgery done on August 23rd. I would imagine it can vary depending if you have insurance restrictions.
Hi! I am having lap band and it will be 3 months start to surgery date of March 3rd. I have health new england insurance and they ok'd me in 24 hours after receiving all my papers from the dr's office.

It took me less than 2 months, and only 2 appointments, but I know this varies a lot. Some people take years, depending on health problems, insurance, program requirements, etc.
