LAP BAND QUESTION

Has anyone out there been successful getting Mass Health to pay for lap band surgery. I am told they will only pay for bypass and I am torn between both surgeries. Thanks

Hi Cheryl, I'm hoping Mass Health pays for Lap Band as that is the surgery I would rather have over the bypass. I've already started the long process for the bypass, but I'm going to an informational meeting regarding lap banding next week. I'll make sure to ask about health insurance payments. Thanks for bringing it up, I wouldn't have asked otherwise.

Hi Annie, where is your lap band inquiry meeting? I think that might be better for me too. I am already in process for bypass surgery but am having second thoughts since I am a lightweight. Wondering what hospital does lapband? Valarie

the lap-band queen is dr. ashley vernon at the brigham & women's hospital. She is awesome. (she does by-pass too) I was banded on sept 14th and she is great! The Hospital & their office hold a monthy info meeting on weight loss surgeries- it's very informative. good luck
