Why Open Over Lap ..????????????

Hi Loretta, I had open surgery becasue that is what my doctor recomended. There are people who will say Lap is safer and others that say open is better. I have found more evidence that lap has more complications. What is important is your surgeons experience level. Not only how experience is he with WLS but also how long has he been doing Lap surgeries. What I have found is that the complication rate for both goes way down when the lever of experience goes up. I wouldn't go to a surgeon that hasn't done at least 100 surgeries lap or open. Now you have my two cent Good luck Dianna
