ARGH! I need Dr Randall people help! I'm a little over 3 weeks post-op and haven't lost a lb in a week and am getting frustrated, even though the nurse and Erika (nutritionist) said it's fine! (Lost 24lbs in two weeks, but the 3rd week, nothing!) So far today, and I'm still following my nutritionists orders: 7:30am 4oz container of kashi crunch cereal for fiber and protein with 1% milke (3oz) 9:30am 5 teaspoons lght mayo/tuna fish on low carb wheat crackers (10 carbs for 5 crackers) and now, 12:15pm I'm about to eat a 4oz container of meat chili, nothing else.. In-between all meals I sip crystal light ... drank maybe 20oz all day so far, I guess that's not enough! Later, I'll have a 2:30 meal, 5'ish meal and 8pm meal.. all the same 4oz sizes .. and to be honest, I feel like a piggy!! I hope I'm not eating too much! I'm around 1100 calories a day, maybe 1200 .. and the nutritionist wanted 1200-1400 a day since I'm a guy .. (shrugs) .. ah well... hopefully the weight will begin to come off next week ... Jeff

Jeff, don't panick you have hit your 1st plateau. Your body is just trying to figure out what is going on. You will start melting again very soon. Sounds like you are doing good and following the plan. Goooooood job. Enjoy life and have fun meltin away. Dawn -78

Hi Jeff, You had your surgery with Dr. Randall just three days before me. I have some thoughts on your situation. First of all, 20 oz is definately not enough fluid. Your body is probably thinking that it is in a drought and is hoarding water. My guess is that if you were drinking adequately then you will be able to release the excess fluid that registers on the scale as pounds. I think that it is not what you are eating but what you are NOT drinking! Get yourself a water bottle, like a nalgene that has ounces on it. Fill it and keep track of how much you drink. Take it with you wherever you go. DRINK, DRINK, DRINK! If your body is hydrated it is not afraid to let go of the excess. Your skin also needs the fluid if you want it to have any elasticity. Enuf lecture............let me know how you are doing. Willi Ryan

Jeff dont worry. you have just hit your first plateau. you will make it through. I only lost a pound each week for two weeks and then this week I lost 5.5 lbs. They say it happens. It still stinks but remember at least it isnt going in the other direction. Good luck, chin up, it will be over soon~! take care. down 124lbs

very interesting. i LOVE reading how different doctors treat their patients. i didn't have one carb for a whole month. it wasn't on my prescribed "diet". some people get to have carbs the first week. i only have three meals a day, too. i don't snack. i just didn't want to get in the habit on "snacking". i have either egg beaters 1/2 piece wheat toast, or some low fat cheese with toast. then, for lunch i have hormel chili, refried beans, or 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 piece fruit. and, then i have dinner......piece of fish or chicken with 1/4 c brown rice and 1/4 cup vegetable. sometimes i'll have a carnation before bed if i'm lacking on protein. but, i find if you "snack" throughout the day it's hard to get all your water in. water is KEY. hope this helps!!!
