Erin! No questions are stupid!!!!! An N/G tube is a naso-gastric tube, it goes in your nose to your stomach and helps remove secretions and gas while the stomach or intestines rest or repair. To avoid vomiting. I don't know how often it is used in this type of surgery. My book from Dr. Hess mentioned it as routine post-op, but as I have said I think it might be a little outdated. Luann
