POST OP INSURANCE QUESTION

I have Harvard Pilgrim Insurance (Massachusetts) and I am wondering about whether they pay for the tummy tuck. I have heard different things. If anyone knows for sure, I would appreciate your input. Thanks!

Cindy, Payment depends on the procedure being medically necessary. That translates to you having assoicated problems like a hernia, chronic infections, etc. Sometimes they will cover removal of the excess skin only and the patient is responsible for the muscle tightening. Otherwise HP and other carriers classify the surgery as cosmetic and they do not cover it.
