Have you visited the VSG forum? I had a LapBand for almost 5 years and just revised to VSG 3.5 weeks ago. I couldn't be happier so far - zero hunger. Other than boredom the post op liquid diet has been a breeze!.

Good luck!

Are you talking about people you know or this forum?  The VSG if fairly new to this area as medical insurance has just started covering it so not many people have had it. Its best to visit the VSG forum for support directly related to the VSG itself (they know a lot about the surgery).

As for horror stories - I've done quite a bit of research and haven't run across any that made me change my mind. There have been some horrific stories of leaks but as long as you work with your doctor and report symptoms then they can be fixed. Some people have a rough start but in the end they are glad they did it.

I'm glad I revised to VSG so far.........I'm sure once its done you will be happy also.

Good luck

Hi! I am huge proponent of going with your gut. I flipped flopped between RNY and lapband for a little while until I felt 100% comfortable with my decision. If you are having second thoughts, I say research all the surgeries and make sure that you are comfortable with the one you choose. And make sure you are ready before you go under the knife. If you have any lingering doubts before hand, you might not be completely ready and your head might not be completely in the right place after surgery. This is a HUGE decision and you have right to take as much time as you want to make the decision.

My other advice is to do the research, but don't do one surgery just because someone else had a bad other surgery and revised to another. There are risks of complications for all surgeries and not everyone gets the same complications that people write about. Do what you feel is right for you.

GOOD LUCK!!!
