Well I had my scope repeated and she said my ulcer is healed!  I still feel nauseaus A LOT though and am still having trouble eating a lot of foods. They either cause nausea, pain, or vomiting. I am almost 3 months out and feel like this shouldn't be, but surgeon just keeps saying eat what you can. I am only able to get in about 30 grams of protein so I have to supplement with nasty Isopure. And my hair STARTED FALLING OUT!!

I hope you feel better soon!  Did you ever try Carafate?  That has really helped me.  Since your ulcer is gone, not sure if it would hel*****t, but since I started it, I haven't been nauseated at all.  It would probably help prevent any others from starting.  Not sure though.

I too have been dealing with an ulcer problem but mine hasn't healed all the way yet. I was on zantac for 3 months and then started with the pain and pressure so I was on carafate and prilosec. They helped and I was on them for 3 months. I came off and again the pain returned. I am now on prilosec twice a day and hoping it will heal soon. Even though it is healed doesn't mean it still isn't tender. Take your time and just keep trying. I agree that a lot of the protein drinks are horrible but I have found one that is pretty good. I have just started using Atkins Advantage protein shakes. I love the milk choclate. They are thick but taste well enough that it isn't a chore drinking them. I also have lost a lot of hair. Talk to your doctor about taking biotin. It seemed to help slow it down a bit but once your weight stabilizes it will stop. Take care and good luck with it all

Hi Tammy,

I have had a really hard time with protein drinks and just today I was thinking about going back to the Atkin shakes.   I drank those a lot prior to surgery and liked the flavor.  I am hoping they won't bother my stomach.  I didn't realize it was going to be such a struggle to get in enough protein.  I guess I didn't realize I would have so much nausea.  I know it will get better though and I wouldn't think twice to do it all over again.  :)

Tina,
You had your surgery right after mine. I can't tolerate the protein shakes so I use Isopure instead. It is a clear liquid in many flavors. It has a strong after taste so I mix it with something. The tea one is very good with iced tea. Are you having trouble tolerating a lot of foods? That is my biggest problem. Nothing seems to sit right and causes nausea. I am on carafate and protonix for the ulcer for another month or so. I also take the Zofran for nausea but it doesn't always help. I feel like I am livig on yogurt. What foods are you able to tolerate??
Thanks,
Charlene
