Cut out the Carbs - Load up on protein...  I lost 11 Lbs in one week by staying under 20 carbs a day!
I followed the Dr.Atkins program - ok so it's NOT easy but it totally works! Not to mention, post-op we're gonna have to cut out the sugars/carbs (for the most part) so by the time surgery rolls around carbs will be a thing of the past!!!   Oh and throw in some daily exercise!
You can do this!
I've been declared a slow loser - and couldn't be happier!!
 I  can,  I  will.

Start eating pre-op what your program says to eat post-op.  I found that really helped me out, plus it gets you prepared.  High protein, low fat and low sugar

My hospital gives you a 2 week pre-op diet to follow. so i just used that and lose 8 pounds in 3 weeks. 5 protein shakes a day, no added sugar carnation instant breakfast and 8 ounces of ff milk. plus one lean dinner consisting of 4 oz protein, salad, and vegetable. If still hungry , you can add 2 sf jellos or sf popsicles. It worked great for me. Also gets you use to the idea of the liquid stage of your diet. Somedays I even cheated and had a salad for lunch, which didn't seem to hurt. Try it for a week and decide if it works for you. Did your nutritionist give you a pre-op diet like that?? Also like previously said, cut out your carbs and sugar right away, that will make a big difference and you have to anyway! Good luck!!

Add more exercise to your day - even if it's just a 20 minute walk.

Plus, what the others said - go low carb, high protein.  If you know what your weakness is - say, fried foods, or sweets, than avoid those or at least reduce your intake of them by half to start.
