WOW! I was just clicking on things and found there is a message board for MA! Super cool!

Anyhow - is anyone familiar with any of these Bariatric Programs:

Newton-Wellesely

Norwood

Toby

I have Tufts insurance and I have a choice of procedures as well as facilities...I am going to orientations at all three facilities but was wondering if anyone had a personal endorsement.

Thanks so much and it's nice to meet other Mass-users!

I've been very satisfied with Newton Wellesley. The whole practice is great.  My surgeon is Dr. Gazmuri and he is the absolute best! I'd choose him again 1,000 times over!  Good luck.  We are lucky to live in an area with such excellent health care.  Good luck!

I can't say I know anything about Norwood or Toby.  I'm partial to Newton-Wellesley because that's where I went and LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Gazmuri, the whole staff and everything about it.  Feel free to ask me anything.

Have you contacted Tufts insurance - do you have to do the "I can change" program?  I know I had to, and it was 6 months long - so if they still require it, you probably want to get that going.

Thanks everyone for your warm welcomes! I just found this board again!  I couldn't figure out where it was and kept clicking into surgeons.

I am 2 months into the ICanChange and am spending my waiting period jumping through hoops.  As well as having the Tufts political red tape to go through, I have the red tape at work because my employer is a "self pay". Basically what that means is that all of my health care has to be done AT the facility that I work at.  But because our hospital doesn't offer wls, I can go to another facility but I have to have the approval of the Medical Director.  All of the paperwork was done as of Thursday though and the Med director emailed me his personal approval.

Anyhow - it's nice to meet you all and to get support from locals.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello.  I also have Tufts and i can understand about their red tape (ugh).  I completed the I Can Change program in April.  Quite honestly I didn't care for it, but hey, I did what the insurance dictates I do to get approval.  My daughter had the RNY by the docs at Tobey and she thought their staff was ok.  She liked it because it was easy enough to get to, no traffic and parking issues as well as the staff and doctors.

I am going through Brigham & Women's in Boston because I am doing a revised surgery from a Hernia to the RNY and the doc at Tobey doesn't do it and referred me to Dr. Lautz at Brigham.

Best of luck to you!
