I might as well get a pillow and strap myself to the toilet! Someone plezzze advise!! I tried Immodium, less H2O, sipping protein more slowly. No releif. My husband is going to get me some Lactaid.

I am using the Carnation Instant Breakfast. I am afraid to put anything in my mouth right now.

I also have Serious issue with meds. Dietitian said I would be able to crush meds and put in applesause. Well that isn't happening. The Hospital said "NO". Before leaving the hosp attempted to give me some of my regular meds "crushed" and mixed in "Jello". I take  A LOT  of meds. That was NOT going to happen. Well last night and this morning I cut them up a million times!!! One of my meds actually turned out to be 8 pieces. I just slowly took them over several hours. When I can have applesauce I think it will be better.

So my abdomin is "sore:, "bruised". I have pain pills but can't tell if I'm in pain or just uncomfortable. Also when not in bathroom I have gas worst that a man, if that's possible. ANYTHING ELSE ANYONE CAN TELL ME!! ESP FOR "RIGHT" NOW!!!

The lactaid sounds like a good idea.  I had a problem with lactose early on.  Walking will help move the gas out.  How long until they will let you have applesauce?  Good luck...don't be shy about calling your surgeon if you need to.  Cutting back on the water may be a bad idea since you are losing so much and it is important to keep hydrated.  Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

Lactaid for now. I had the same experience. Go slow. Drink the water. Call the Dr./nurse at the surgeons practice and get help with how to take your meds, Get the vitamins in no matter what.

hang in there.

Always ask questions!  Glad you posted!

FYI :  the two answers that are good for almost any question:  1. call your surgeon  and 2. drink more water.  Both apply to your dilemma.  smart for getting the lactaid milk, hopefully that helps.

Hopefully you have talked to your surgeon already, but if not, at the very least, keep sipping the water (try it at different temps, sometimes pouches get particular).

Walk as much as you can to work out the gas.  any movement will help - knee bends, swinging your arms, whatever!

buy a pill crusher.  have someone go to the pharmacy for you.  I bought mine at the pharmacy at Target.  Put your crushed pills in your protein/carnation instant breakfast.  Stay hydrated, it's feels worse when your dehydrated.  Good Luck!

I was the same way.  I just crapped through the first few weeks until I could get off the CIB shakes.  I finally found a protein drink that I can tolerate and is yummy (CLICK).  Once I got off the milk it got much better.  I am so sensitive to dairy now, it's crazy.

ok doctor said worry about fluids more than protein and try to give stomache a rest. Called nutritionist, she said lactaid good. she suggested i find new protein shake. i have the Syntrax Sweets Strawberry, it is know to be one of the best on the market. mixes great, not chalky at all, and tastes really good. They have like a dozen flavors! So I thought ok, i'm doing better, no more diarhea!! Yay. Now my stomache just hurts. I took my pills before bed with some water, they are very small. Stomache not feeling well all day. any way got into bed and started heaving. just frothy "spit" coming up but the heaves were very violent and constant. i could barely breath. This went on for about 25 mins. I still have a mild pain under sternum but the nausea and immenant need to throw up is over. I did not over do the shake as my stomache was bothering me so I did a strained soup broth. I took a pepcid and everytime I sip my water I get a pain just under my sternum and into my left breast and side. As you can see I am up at 3:47 am!!!!! I put a warm pad on my uper abdomen and sternum. I really have no idea what idea what to expect. looking back I realize they never really said how you would feel the first week. i hear people are up walking, cleaning, etc. I went to walmart and every step hurt my abdomin. Could someone please advise on whats normal and whats not. I am feeling very distraught and upset. Did not realize I was going to feel like such crap and can't stop crying, "hormones??" I am seriously wondering if this worth it or if I made a mistake I can't take back. I really need some support form someone benn there or going through same issues. I was so upset today I bought a pack of cigs, light one and threw it out the window!! Tasted horrible, thank god!! Please help me. I appreciate any time you can take to respond. Can you tell me where and when there are support groups near middleboro, i only know boston. Thanks much, Charlene
