Ok as you all know I'm a little overwhlemed with my vitamins.... I'm now anemic and worried about being sick,,,,,
I posted on another board about my situation and someone mentioned I'm not taking enough calcium I take the citrical calcium petites with D the bottle says Vitamin D 500 IU Calcium 400mg.... Take 1-2 tabs two time daily.... I've been taking 1 twice a day.. Is this enough???
FYI I'm always forgetting my calcium... not compliant at all with this I will shamfully admitt...
Any feedback is great... I did leave a message with my nut....

you need to take 500 mg calcium 3X day minimum. You might want to consider trying out the chewables made my Bariatric Advantage or other companies - maybe people can bring you samples at a support group meeting. They can be very yummy and you might look forward to taking them!
Also, if your iron is low, you should probably take an iron supplement. I take Vitron C (over the counter at CVS/Walgreens). The vitamin C helps with absorbtion. Do not take WITH calcium. I take it at bed time.
I wear a watch with an alarm on it that goes off every 2 hours to remind me to take vitamins.

Like Sue, I take vitron C at night when I go to bed to make sure its not interfering with calcium absorbance and vice versa. I know there are also calcium chews out there, saw some the other day at stop and shop, one was caramel and the other chocolate, check the sugar content to see how youll react to it but maybe thats an option for you. I take two calciums in the morning and then hopefully I remember to take the third in the afternoon, if I forget atleast i know I got two in in the morning. Just had my levels checked and so far so good....
Feeling for you Meliss - got my blood work back and my iron and calcium are low....... I take my iron religously so we're upping it - calcium she upped to BUT I have a hard time getting that is so I think I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing - we're doing blood work again in 2 months so.......
for the calcium I was doing the Lozenges (wild cherry) and chocolate chewy bites which I love - i"m going to stop the lozenges cause I just don't care for them but will continue with the chocolate chewy bites and get the lemon ones and I want to try the new raspberry ones - I know they're expensive but if I have to take them might as well like them.......
Always some kind of challenge !

hey all
i also take the citrical calcuim citrate + d pettites
you are correct in the d 500iu per serving
but...read the bottle again the serving is 2 tabs that serving only gives you 400mg calcuim
so 6 tabs is still only 1200
i didnt read the label before i got these myself so im going to switch to the chewy bites that give you 500 mg per serving it sucks taking 6 of these a day and i usualy only take 2-4 i allways forget

Hi Melissa,
I'm also having a hard time remebering all these vitamins times. I'll tell you what I've been told and what I do. Hopefully this will make it easier for you...
Ok so you have to take the multivitamins, Vit D, Vit B12, Iron, Calcium...You have to take Calcium CITRATE, chewable if you can. All your vitamins should be chewable if possible, B12 sublinguale, Iron small pill form...Now the times are tricky...Calcium should be 2 hours apart from your Iron and your antiacid (like pepcid or prilosec). It should ALSO be 2 hours apart from each other. Your body only absorbs 600 mg at a time. Meaning if you took all you calcium at the same time you would only get the 600 mg. I also had a hard time finding chewable that I liked. But chewables are soooo much better for bypass patients, for the absorbtion part of it!
Here is what I do...
In the AM I take my Iron (Vitron C) and my antiacid (Pepcid)
I also take my Multivitamins(2x), Vit D, Vit B12 and Vit C, all chewable in gummies!! I love them. I can't chew on the chalky stuff. I know people have different opinion about them but it works for me. They are from VitaFusion, I found them at Target and Cosco.

So all those are out of the way. Now all you have left is your Calcium...
So you have to take Calcium Citrate Chewable, very hard to find.
I take Calcet Calcium Creamy Bites 3 other times in the day. So maybe like lunch, snack and diner. These are really good, you can have them in chocolate or lemon flavors. I like the Chocolate ones, they are like little brownies, it's like a little dessert.

Then at night I take my pepcid again.
I hope you are able to find this helpful! Good Luck to you!
