It's not easy but as you said you have to do it so.......

what have you been trying  ?

I personally had the same problem and found that in the beginning the only thing I could do is Carnation Instant Breakfast - sugar free - in skim milk with a scoop of beneprotein in it.

I did fidn that I like Chike too !

how about the greek yogurt ? I personally didn't like it but it's a great source of protein - of course be sure any of these suggestions are on your plan.......

Good luck !

Ok BIG (((((  HUGS))))))   Deep breathe!!!!  It will be ok....
It takes a while to get the right protein shake for you!!!!!   I have tried many out there!!!
My favorite is CHIKE from chikenutrition.com... they sell samples
also love Click  that can be bought on amazon.com
What are you mixing the shakes with???  maybe the milk is making you sick??  maybe try water instead.. or if using water maybe mill with be better tasting... I mix all my shakes with milk or ice coffee.....  but I'm 9 months out...   FOLLOW YOUR DR'S RULES PLAEASE!!!

how about trying a protein bars???

I haven't had a protein shake since 2 weeks post-op.  I didn't like them and my Dr./dietititain hasn't suggested them since.  I feel they want me to get my protein through food.  Just make sure you follow your Dr.'s plan.  Good luck finding a protein shake you like.  I drank Atkins for two weeks.

Hey you're trying so just keep it up. As you already know I have a hard time getting my protein as well. I did just learn about the greek yogurt as well. I am going to get the beneful stuff to add to drinks because I can't stomach them either. Things have been good though because I have only been eating high protein foods. Stick to high protein vegs and as you are able to add food to your diet look up protein levels so you can choose wisely.

Best of luck! Hang in there!! You'll be fine!

Hi there -

I have a hard time getting my protein in...most shakes (even Chike) do not agree with me.   Here is what works for me:    Myoplex Lite Chocolate (premixed - walmart, supermarkets) tastes like chocolate milk with no smell; Nectar - fuzzy navel - really good - no smell or aftertaste; Click mocha - I actually look forward to it.

Please know that we all struggle with this.  Hang in there.....

I survived on the Isopure RTD clear protein drinks.  They are not milk based and come in 20 oz bottles, 40 grams of protein per bottle.  they are very sweet, but they worked for me.

I also made "hot chocolate" with SF Carnation Instant Breakfast and 2 cups of milk (to thin it out and add extra protein).  I still drink this EVERY day.  :)

Hi Amanda,
I had surgery from the same doctor in September and I had the same problem but forced myself to get the protein in and did exactly as Lisa suggested. I would use the CIB sugar free and I added unlfavored unjury protien. You should have the greek yogurt if you like it as it gives you 18gms of protien, I would use the plain and put splenda and mash some banana up and I really enjoyed this. Another thing have you made smoothies, if you use the unflavored protien, milk, fuit (I liked strawberries and bananas) and some splenda, when I made it this way I was unable to taste or smell the protien. Do you go to the support groups?
You can email me if you would like to talk.

No protein shakes worked for me they ALL made me so sick... I tried about 13 different ones.  Also, tried without milk and without whey in case I became allergic.  I just kept in contact with my surgeon on how I was doing with them, and the first couple weeks he said as long as I was getting in liquids, he was ok that I wasn't getting the protein.  Then at 3 weeks I was able to eat yogurt and cottage cheese and I was in heaven!!!  Now, I am out much further I drink "click" protein and LOVE LOVE it, but haven't gone back to try anything else again.  I get most of my protein from food.  good luck, it get's better!! WAY better!
