Dayquil/Nyquil etc.

Are there any rules on this stuff for when you're feeling under the weather?  I've had a few sips of Dayquil over the past couple of days, and haven't felt any negative side effects of it(dumping, nausea etc.)  I'm trying to remember what my program said about these OTC medications but I can't remember for the life of me......

Any help/suggestions??

Many thanks!!
Kate

I don't have any trouble with Dayquil because it's acetaminophen. (My doctor didn't say I couldn't have it) Whenever I take any medicine, even tylenol, I take my as-needed Prilosec or a Tums JUST because I'm paranoid and JUST to be on the safe side.

The only real problem with Nyquil is that it's 10% alcohol, which is fine with the small dose you take, but it hits me like a ton of bricks. I literally was so tired I couldn't lift my head. It was a little freaky.

That's all. Hope you feel better!

Oh no!!  I feel like I'm one of those "exception" patients where I don't feel any side effects of anything!!!  Sorry it didn't go so well with you

I took the normal dose and about 20 minutes later I was in a lot of pain. I called my Mom (she's a nurse) and explained my symptoms and she said it was gastritis. I almost went to the ER it was so bad. The pain was all up into my back ...I felt like I was beat up.

I was warned about it b/c of the alcohol content, and advised in general to avoid meds with alcohol, aspirin, or sugars.  There are dietetic/diabetic meds out there, I never knew that before!
