Celebrating two years out but MIA!

Hi all-
Some of you will remember me...I used to be a "regular" here about this time last year....I've fallen "victim" to a hectic work schedule, planning my wedding, and, yes, Facebook!  I've still lurked here and there to see how everyone is doing, but don't have a good excuse for losing touch...I've read a lot of posts this week and feel similar to Cheryl's post about not doing well and feeling like a "failure" for not reaching my original goal of losing 100lbs...The best I got to was 90lbs lost, then in summer of 2008, stalled to a complete and utter stop, even though I was exercising like a champ and eating like the model bypass patient....I thought I was destined to stay at 175lbs (goal of 161-164) forever...Boy was I wrong!  Over the next year, the happiest of my life, I met the love of my life, got engaged and moved in together all within less than a year....I then proceeded to stray off of 175lbs and up to 189 for a short spell, staying around 187 for most of the past 8 months or so...Grazing became my enemy, exercise was non-existent...I was just "happy."  Well, once August came, I decided to get serious and lose those "happiness" pounds that I had gained since I met Adam...For a solid month, I exercised 5-6 days per week and put the fork down on a regular basis...Want to guess how much I lost?  One pound.  Yup.  One lousy pound...Again, I thought I was destined to only go up on that damn scale!  Well, I changed my mentality and my exercise regime and gave up my old friend the elliptical and started running, something I said I wouldn't do unless I was being chased!  Running as been great...Once that initial soreness went away, I felt great, and the scale moved!  I've managed to get back down to 179, but really feel better than I had even at 174i****s weird...I do want to lose another 14 lbs or so before my wedding in May, but I've been wondering if its because I want to see the 160's and a normal BMI or if its because I think I might look better?  Probably not...The things that don't look so great will need plastics to fix, and there's no cash for that...Plus I would like to have a baby soon after I get married...Regardless, I wanted to post to show that sometimes you can do everything right and not lose...Sometimes you can lose control and its so hard to regain that control, but life happens and we have to go with it, right?  Anyway, I cannot promise I will completely remove myself from lurker status, but wanted to let those here know that I haven't forgotten where I came from!  I've posted some of my engagement photos for all to see!  Hope everyone has a fabulous holiday season!

Hi Jenn... congratulations on your engagement!
Thanks for your words. I, too, am stuck at a weight higher than I would like..but I figure like you...that is just the way it is going to be.  I went to the gym from March to July 3x week and lost a whopping 5 pounds but did become a bit toner.  Lack of time is an enemy..I still go to the gym but more like 1 or 2x week. I wish you, Adam and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Congrats on your success and your upcoming wedding !

You bring to light an interesting point - sometimes we consider our success the weight goal ! But Health and Happiness are so much more important !! So work on letting the scale go and relish is your life successes which are so much more important !!!

Have a great holiday !

Jenn,
if I knew your last name I'd look you up on Facebook! I miss you, but i am SOOOOOOO happy for you!!!!

Running really tones up and slims you down... even if you don't lose, you will see your body change - I think any change to your exercise routine will do that to you.

It's inspiring to hear that your tool works just fine when you use it - and good for you for making the choice to keep working at it!

Thanks for checking in, and please, PM me if you want to hook up on Facebook!!

Love,

sue
