Beth Israel (BIDMC) Program

Hi all...
Is anyone here going through the BIDMC program?  Had a question as to timing after you've attended the info sessions and submitted you HH form.  If you don't mind sharing, what was your timeline like?  Thank you!

HI I went through BIDMC. I went to my first informational session in August 08' and had my surgery in April 09'. Although I could have had it sooner - they were able to get me in - but I wanted to wait until April vacation so........ I know that you can get through faster than I did - but I was ok with the wait - wanted to research more, get some things in order, etc.  ! Anything else - feel free to ask !!

And, holy moly!!!  I just noticed that you've lost over 90lbs....that's amazing...congrats!!!!

This is my first post and I just received my surgery date of December 28, 2009 at BIDMC.  My first informational meeting was 8/09.  The BIDMC program is so organized I didn' have a long wait at all.  When they called I was accomodating to their appointments and now I'm on my way.  I hope this helps.

Thanks so much to both of you for responding!  I did my 1st info session online and attended my second in mid-October.  I also sent my HH form during mid-Oct.  I have yet to hear anything about having my first appointment with the nurse/staff and just wasn't sure how long it would take.  So far, so good though...I really think the program is excellent (from what I've read about it) and it's good to know that they take everything step-by-step.  I even enjoyed the info session...,so much that I wouldn't mind attending a third!  How long did it take them to contact you once your sessions were done and you had completed your HH form?

I will say that I remember thinking HMMM how come they haven't called yet ? But not sure how long it actually was (sorry) but it did happen quickly - they were great about multiple appts. and as I said I chose to wait until April - so be prepared !!

Ha!  Exactly the point I'm at....poor Mr. Claus...I bother him every day asking him WHY haven't they called.  But, then I remember that I'm not in this to rush things.  Slow and steady wins the race.  Thanks again!

Great atttitude ! And I know it's hard to believe but it WILL come and go quicker than you think - I can't believe that I'm approaching 7 months out !!! Seems like yesterday !! Keep us informed. Have you chosen a doctor yet ?

Mrs Claus:  I don't remember how long it took, but it was quick.  Maybe it depends on the insurance, but I am new at this so I'm not sure.  I went to the first info meeting in August, faxed over my forms and my first appointment was late Sept earlly Oct.  If you can you can do several appointments in one day to speed the process and now I am scheduled for surgery December 28th.  I hope this helps.
