Since the walk is at my weight loss center I probably have some extra information. You don't have to do the actual walk. They know that most folks pre op and post op have difficulties walking so it's not mandatory. If you want to walk around the parking lot, that is fine. There will be health booths set up, raffles, and we are suppose to have bouncy things for the kids.

After I mentioned that I didn't have the money to register I recieved this email from one of ambassadors:

Thanks Brooke your help is always appreciated.

You raise a good point though. In these tough economic times not everyone can afford the $25 registration fee. Please do not let that stop you from comming to the event and having a great time. Lowell general is also doing a health fair with us that day and there will be lots of other activities. All of which are free. Also just because you are not registered does not mean you can not walk and enjoy the companionship of your fellow weight loss patients.

Even if you are not a registered walker for the event there are plenty of opportunities for you to help out and support the walk. You can help by getting prizes for the drawing after the walk. We will also need help with the setup before and the tear down after the walk. We will also need help with manning various stations and booths at the walk.

So there is no excuse for any of you out there. Saturday September 26, 2009 9:00 AM Come on out to the Weight Management Center and share some good fellowship and have some fun.

Thanks,
George

PS> If any of you cann't afford the $25 registration fee but would like to make a smaller donation to the Walk from Obesity, any of the registered walkers would love to have your contribution to their efforts. Any amount is welcome $1, $2, $5, the spare change in your pocket, etc..

For those who want to walk slow, I'll have my dog with me (hope it's allowed), and he'll be busy sniffing and peeing along the way, so I won't be power-walking the route.  He's coming because A) he was my main source of exercise for the first 8 months post-op and B) He lives in Lowell with my ex, so it's a good excuse for me to have visitation.

Hey, I don't know all the details (waiting for someone to respond to me) but when I was at my appointment Friday they had flyers posted for a 'Pant Parade' during the Walk..basically it said to bring a pair of your old jeans (you know, those pair you kept from before surgery) and they are going to do something with them ..hang them I think.

Hi Melting Mama (Beth).

I just joined your team! I was curious how long the walk is? My mother might come with me, she's unsure at his point.

Anyway, I'm about to email all my facebook friends to see if I can get anyone to donate!

I look forward to meeting you and the rest of the team!
