Well I had my pre-op appointment today with Dr Roye and got a surgery date!!  Its going to be October 6.  According to my wife its only 1 month 2 weeks and 3 days.  Seems like a long time, but i guess not really.  Anyway, Dr Roye told me that he isnt sure he will be able to do my surgery laproscopically because i am "all belly" which is true, so its probably going to be an open procedure.  Anyway, I cant wait now that I finally got a date,  Its going to be an exciting few days for me, Sugarland concert on 10/2 and surgery on 10/6....WOOHOO!!!!

congratulations!   I don' want to burst your bubble...However, if you really are counting on a lap procedure..why don't you get a second opinion.  I know in Boston they really try to do the procedures lap.

Thanks Joan!  This was kind of my second opinion.  I have a family member who was also involved in bariatric surgery as a provider and they had even stated that it would be very difficult to have it laproscopically due to being all belly.  On top of the family member, i had seen another bariatric surgeon who told me the same thing.  I am at peace with the open procedure if thats the way it needs to be, but the doc will try to go lap before converting,  Thanks for the well wishes and the thought, i appreciate it!

Brian...I am so glad you did research this!!   hate it when I read on the boards later on that people didn't know there was another option or choice and then are upset.     We are so very lucky where we live to have the best of medical care to not get the best medical care for yourself.
Good luck on your counting down the dates. Keep busy and the time will fly! You will feel like a million bucks before you know it!
