I am so excited and scared all at once... a year in the making! I started with UMASS a year ago this month attending the information sessions and now I have my surgery date!!

I have my surgery exactly 2 months from today, July 27th!!

If anyone has any tips, please let me know!

I would suggest that you start experimenting with your protein drinks NOW, there is way to much going on to try and do them after surgery !! Also be prepared for tons of different emotions !! Try to start good habits now - like fluid intake, exercise, etc.

Good luck !!

Highest (that I know of) 285  Weight when I started the process 277
Night before surgery 263
  Goal weight 160

There are soooo many protein drinks out there... where does one know where to start?

Thanks!  :)

Congrats!  Awesome news!!

Tips:  try some protein drinks.  DO NOT BUY MASS QUANTITIES.... you may discover your tastes change.

Go to your hospital's support groups, and stay online with all of us.  I feel like it's like AA - the people who stay sober are the ones in the meetings.  stick with the winners!!

Relax.  plan to do some nice things for yourself right before your big day.  I had mani/pedi and a massage.

Try not to binge on food before surgery... you can gain all kinds of weight saying "goodbye" to food.
