Can anyone recommend a surgeon that does the Vertical Sleeve?

I live in Cumberland, RI.  I have called every bariatric surgeon in RI and none of them perform the VSG.  Do any of  you know of one that I wouldn't have to travel too far?  Thanks.  Marcia

i don't know of anyone who does it in Mass.  I know for sure it is NOT done at Newton-Wellesley.  Perhaps some of the programs at the big hospitals in Boston do it... but I've not met anyone who's had it done.  Good luck!

the VS is not done in MA as it is still considered experimental

 I can tell you that the VSG will be coming in the next one to two years to MA.  My surgeon-to-be Dr Buckley said that it is no longer experimental, but the insurance companies all have to get on board and the surgeons themselves have to get trained. 

Not too helpful for someone seeking surgery right now, but in the future.....

Look at Beth Isreal Deaconess in Boston.  The two bariatric surgeons there do VSG although like others have said, you may run into insurance issues.  Good Luck!

I do belive I heard that Dr. Lautz does it, but like others have said, insurance does not cover it.

The two surgeons over at Beth Israel do it but you have to pay upfront.   It’s Dr. Jones and Dr. Snyder, both excellent surgeons.  

Dr. Julie Kim at Tufts Medical Center in Boston is and/or will be doing VSG's.  Insurance may covering it may still be a problem, though.

i think some of the surgeon's at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton may do VSG even though they don't "advertise" it, they have some profile information on this site, but i gave up following up when i realized my insurance doesn't cover it (i thought it did, but i was confused).
