I had my surg at St E's and I love Dr Pecquix to death. She has given me my life back. I am actually going to the meeting next week so that my sister in law can go. She is very up front honest and sincere at the same time. Good luck with your journey it sure is a good one. I had mine on 7/28/08 and have lost 120lbs and feel oh so good. I had no complications so I was lucky. If you just do what they tell you to do I am sure you will be fine.

Great job at losing weight on your own.  Every bit that you can lose before your surgery is really helpful!

I too was a type 2 diabetic before surgery, was diagnosed and medicated at age 20.  Within days of my surgery I was off ALL diabetic medications.  Others will still take some for a while, but as the months go by they need less and less and most end up completely free of insulin.

You're going to do great!!!

yeah, i got off the diet coke before surgery - i had a serious DC habit.  i started mixing it with caffeine free, but had one last one the day before surgery.  Since surgery, i've tried a sip here and there and i don't like it at all....which is fine since i shouldn't drink it.  I do have an occasional cup of tea, but my surgeon is ok with that.

I've been lucky to tolerate water really well, so i don't usually have crystal light, just plain water for me.  yum yum

Start trying out protein drinks... don't buy any big boxes or anything in case you don't like 'em.

Catherine,

Good luck with your journey. I had the RNY because of the diabetes connection. I was not on insulin but was taking seven pills daily just for the diabetes. Three days after my surgery, no more diabetes medications - also no more high blood pressure medications.

I love the weight loss, but I love not more diabetes even more. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
