another WOW

I went to my hospital support group meeting last night.  I hadn't been in a few months, so I was excited to see new faces, and old faces that look newer than the last time I saw them!  One gentleman that I'd never met before told me after the meeting that he couldn't believe I was at the meeting - he said I didn't look like I belonged.  I told him he was my new favorite person, but that I belonged there as much as anyone.

Made me realize that for the rest of my life people aren't going to know me as "fat Sue", or even "formerly fat Sue".  Amazing to think that!

I legally changed my last name a few years ago for personal reasons and I still find it amazing that my boyfriend doesn't know me with my "old" name.

I'm leaving a lot of baggage in my wake!!!

That is a wonderful wow moment. Every time I go to support groups at least one person we'll say something similar. It's usually "I take it you've had the surgery already".  I use to be the fat one in the room, now I'm the skinny one! Great feeling.
