question about staples

Hey all. So I had the RNY on the 4th. Was in the hospital for 2 nights. I've been home feeling better with each day. Yestaerday (3/9) I was in some pain. But it felt like when you pull a muscle or something. Figured no big deal part of healing. Anyway my problem is that I have never had staples before. Today the staples are fine except one in the middle of my stomach. It hurts (not terribly but still more than it has) and kind of burns. I've also had a headache all day. My sisters took a look and say that it looks red around the staples. I have my follow up on the 16th. Maybe I should have just waited but I got worried and called the surgeon. Hopefully I'll hear back tomorrow. Now if I'm allergic to the staples will they need to be pulled out? And if so then will they just replace them with stitches? And if I'm allergic to staples what about my pouch? Does that mean I have to have it all undone? Thanks and sorry for going on. Just worried.

I had disovable (sp?) stitches with my bypass. So I'm not sure. But I had staples when I had my gallbladder out and I remember a few being sore and most were red, but I was told they were red because they were healing. They became itchy too.

BUT ..it's probably best to call your surgeon just to make sure.

Thanks for the reply. The dr got back to me first thing this morning and put my mind at ease. I didn't think it was all too bad but the more my family said they looked bad and the more I thought about it the scarier it was. According to doc everything seems fine.
