i finally started exercising!

Sure, i walked the first week or two out of surgery, and then it was christmastime so i counted shopping as my exercise.

Now that I'm back to work I was supposed to start going to the gym.  Instead, we adopted a dog!!!  I can still go to the gym of course, but the dog gets walked 3-5 times/day, and I am usually responsible for at least one of them, so I have a new love in my life that makes me exercise.  our route includes 3 consecutive flights of outdoor stairs...with no Asthma inhaler!!!  What a blessing!  We should have named him "GYM".

Congratulations Sue,

Now you have somone depending on you to take him for a walk.  That works out perfect.  My husband still keep trying to talk me into a dog.  I love them, but I already have 3 other people to take care of.  A dog might just put me over the edge right now.......oh, and I'm allergic.

Keep up the good work,
Brenda

Coming from a home where we always had pets, and my mom was ALWAYS the one doing all the work, I can't say I blame you.  I am fortunate enough to have a partner who doesn't mind getting up to do the early walk each day, and is home before me to do the feeding .  I know that if I want the dog to love me as much as his dad I have to be equally responsible for him!

I certainly couldn't have a dog if I lived alone, or was responsible for the care of multiple beings.

Should you ever get a non-allergic dog (shih tzu's are sweet), get it in writing from EVERYONE that they have to help.

Brenda,
Get a Shih-Tzu --  they have hair like people, so are hypoallergenic.  They are also small and easy to care for --   oh,  I just love them!  Dog's do wonders for getting you up and out of the house for a walk!

Your pug dog is ADOREABLE!! I am owned by a 3-legged pug named Otis. He is my baby even though he is 11 years old.  Pugs are wonderful dogs, they think they are people!  :) I hope you enjoy him... I think pugs are so special!

Congratulations on your weightloss! I hope to have surgery this summer!

Take care!

Thank you, we found PJ at our local Humane Society on his first day available for adoption... his last home was an apartment that wasn't supposed to have dogs... thankfully, we got the landlord's permission!

I bet your Otis is a cutie.  Our friends have pugs and we brought them to a Pug meet-up/photo shoot in Waltham last year where we met other differently-abled rescue Pugs... all so sweet!

Good luck on your bid for surgery...my journey to get surgery lasted over 6 months - and the time FLEW!  post-op life is also flying!
