More evil food! - Salmon???

Just when I thought I could almost eat normally, I find out that you ALWAYS have to be careful.  I really thought I knew how and what to eat, but that is not the case.  I went to a meeting/luncheon today.  I had a few bites of salad, a few bites of bread, a few bites of asparagus, a spoonful of rice and some grilled salmon.  I don't know what did it-- maybe I wasn't chewing enough, ate too fast - the salmon?, bread? rice? lettuce?  --  who knows.  I've eaten all of the above before with no problem.  Well after the meal, I became so ill I had to walk out of the room while the speaker (the big boss) was speaking.  I was in agony - pain, dizziness, nausea and foamies.  I had to get up three times during the meeting.  I tried to vomit, but nothing happened but foamies and burping.  I couldn't concentrate on anything - I felt wretched!  On the drive home, I almost killed myself by falling asleep on the highway!  I was driving along feeling better, but drowsy.  Suddenly a little bump startled me and I found myself in a different lane!!  I was immediately hit with a rush of rousing adrenaline, as I realized I was nodding off and drifting across the road.  Kept me wide awake for the rest of the way home.  When I got home - at 4:00 in the afternoon, I fell asleep on the couch.  I know that being sleepy goes along with dumping; I wonder if it ties in with food getting stuck.  (That's what I believe happened to me today.)  This will be the fourth time it has happened to me.  I am going to have to be really, really cautious about how and what I eat when I'm at a function like that again.

Sorry to hear this, but I've definitely been there. When I read what you ate, my first thought was that that would have been too "dry" for me. Was the salmon moist? Was there any sauce? (I know it's evil stuff, but sometimes it helps).  Hope you feel better!

I think you're right about it being too dry.  The salmon was moist, but probably not moist enough - especially combined with asparagus and rice -- no sauce on anything.  Oh well, it's a journey I guess, -- I'm learning as I go along!

Anne-Marie,

Keep some papaya enzyme tablets in your pocketbook. They are truly life-savers.

I have them in my pocketbook now -- I used to carry them all the time, but it's been months since I had any problems like that, so they were at home.  From now on, I'll keep them with me at all times.

I am so sorry that happened to you.
I went out to eat with friends Tuesday evening. I woke up with a rash on my torso that I thought was from wearing a maroon shirt to bed. Lo and behold, my feet had the rash. I was not really aware of what caused this reaction. Later in the day, my legs bothered me, and my feet were sore. I put this off as just my crazy body. I walk over this frozen ground and it could have been tired feet.
Wednesday evening, I realized both feet were feeling sore all over. When I undressed, my feet were swollen and the slight pink rash had changed to a red blotchy rash. I have a Children's Tylenol for colds and allergies that we are not supposed to give children any more. I took a swig of that.
In the morning, I took some more and brought it with me to work. The tylenol did help alleviate the pain.
I called the surgeon's office when I realized that had done nothing to reduce the redness and swelling.
I was told we could take Benedryl.
Thanks to that one dose, I slept until 7 this morning. I usually wake at 5.
And, had to rush to work~

Benedryl completely wipes me out too, as does Tylenol, strangely enough.  I had never heard of just regular Tylenol ( not cold or allergy) causing drowsiness, but it gets me every time.  I was telling my BF about what had happened, and I realized that I had 3 cups of coffee that morning; you would think the caffeine alone would have kept me awake! (I usually have 1 cup in the morning, and that's it for the day).

Lap Bander here.  My first PB was on a small piece of salmon.  Never was a fan of salmon, was away on a week long business trip, on day 4 I ordered a pasta primavera dish with salmon.  Figured I could eat some of he veggies and little pieces of salmon.  Was in sauce, but as soon as I had a little bit of salmon -- I knew I was in trouble - stuck and was on it's way up fast.

Don't know what it is, maybe it is dense and oily?

OMG dont get me started about salmon!
I am only a little short of 4 weeks out. Have had zero problems wtih my foods. Yesterday, I put some salmon in with some fat free cream cheese and had just 4 spoons of it. After the 4th taste I all of a sudden got very shaky. My saliva glands were working overtime like I was going to throw up and I got very light headed. I went to the bathroom not knowing what to expect. In about 5 mintues whatever was happening was over with.
I dont think I'll try salmon for a long time!

Anne Marie,

Try scallops - they are my best food. Eight and a half months out, I'm still having problems with eggs.
