the day before surgery...

so, I'm in the planning and obsessing stage of preparing for surgery.  For those who went through Newton Wellesley (or others), what is the day before like?  Will i be home and pooping all day?  Did you work?  It will be a weekday for me, so I'm trying to figure out if I should take that day off.  I can't imagine that I'd get anything done in the office, and I can't imagine I'd be able to eat if work threw me a party...

I had mine through LGH and they required I drink 64 oz. of Gatorade with Myralax and YES you will be pooping ALL day, and probably till the next morning! If this is the same requirement for you I'd take the day off and make sure you have all of your errands done before that!

I had mine at Newton Wellsley, and the only requirement was that I didn't eat or drink after a certain hour. I was a little nervous all day (ok, I cried a bit too), so I was glad that I kept busy busy busy. If it were me, I'd go to work!

Good luck with everything, and rest assured that the hospital and Dr. Gazmuri's team take amazing care of you while you are there.

I had my surgery on a Tuesday morning, and was drinking Starbucks and eating sushi and Indian food until 8:00 the night before. No special diet, no special anything. Definitely was not chained in the house the day before, either.

Mentally, I was a mess from about 2 weeks before, so I stopped working the Wednesday before surgery. I was of no use to anyone in the office, and did much better sitting home watching Netflix.

I wish I had the luxury of taking time off before, but considering I will leave work mid-november and not return until January, I feel like I should make every effort to be in before hand.  We are closed during the holidays, so I get EXTRA recovery time tacked on to my 6 weeks.

Of course, the closer it gets, the more mess I might be.

Hi..the day before both my surgeries I did work.  It did keep me busy and kept my mind off the next day.    At the Brigham we don't need to do the bowel prep, but we had a liquid diet for 2 weeks. By then you are beat down anyways on the liquid.
Just make sure you have your items at home you may need:
liquid tylenol, 2 types of liquid protein drink, crystal light, etc.    Remember, if for some reason you don't feel well after the surgery, ask to stay an extra day to just make sure. They will accomodate you.
Don't forget to take your measurements and take photos before your surgery!

Time will fly before it's here   (still no party plans for my daughter...uggh)

Where did my post go?

Everything was normal the day before...it was Jan 2nd. I was fine.

I was looking forward to it. Oh, and wondering if I would sleep much.
