Anyone have an appointment at NWH tomorrow?
Hi! My name is Bev and I noticed that your physician is Dr. Partridge. I'm scheduled to see her on October 15th for a consultation. Can you tell me a little about Dr. Partridge? I am so excited for my consultation I can hardly wait. In fact, I put in a call to the office today to see if I can get an earlier appointment if possible.
I have a back problem that will require surgery, and I'm concerned about which surgery to do first. The back surgery will be a longer recovery period than the bypass I think. I am hoping that I'd be able to get a surgery date for the bypass sooner than later because of the issue with my back.
My neurosurgeon will want to talk to Dr. Partridge about recovery time, etc of the bypass so that we can determine which surgery to do first.
Sorry to have gone on so long here. I hope you have a great 9 month visit tomorrow. You've done so well with your weight loss. Keep up the good work!

She's great .. she'll answer any and all questions you have .. so don't be afraid to bring a list.. as far as I know they are usually booking about 6-8 weeks out so if you have your consult on 10/15 you may have surgery at the end of December or January.
My aunt had back problems and her surgeon had her have the bypass first to take off some of the weight.
Everyone in the office is great .. you'll be there about 4 hours total.. seeing Dr. Partridge the Nut and the Therapist and have blood work done.
I'm not sure about your insurance but mine had me do a 6 month supervised diet with the Nut in the office, but all insurances are different.
I wish you all the best!

Thanks for your help, Kelly. I'll have to check with my insurance company to see if they require a 6 month supervised diet. I hope not; as I just want to have the surgery and be done! It makes sense I guess to do the gastric bypass first in order to lose some weight, but my back and leg are giving me real problems and I'm in a lot of pain. I wish I could have both surgeries one right after the other, but my neurologist and Dr. Partridge will have to discuss a few things such as recovery time, etc. I'm sure going to be praying hard over this next period of time that all will be well and go the way they're supposed to go. Take care, Kelly.

Sorry if this is hijacking the thread somewhat- I also have Dr. P... and I also have a broken back (compression fracture) that was potentially going to require surgery.
Turns out after a 90lb weight loss, back surgery is not necessary, in fact I don't even notice my broken vertebrae anymore. So you never know.
Also just to add my 2 cents.. my initla consult was February 6th & my surgery was April 1. No supervised diet, no insurance hassles. Easy.
