newbie saying hi
Hi Jamie- I found this site back in Feb 2008 after a long haul of tryng to lose weight over the past decade without success and finally had a date for a consult with Dr. Lautz in Boston in May.
Went through all of my pre-op testing and ws scheduled for surgery on 7/1 but then my final testing came back postive for a blood clotting disorder which is genetic in my family. SO I was postponed(5 days before my surgery) to see a blood specialist- whihc I first was frustrated becuase I have had 2 kids, at least 5 surgeries and broken bones with no problems but then after I got my head out of my own a--. I realized that Dr. Lautz was just being thorough and wanted to make sure that I was going to be safe. So I am now rescheduled for Oct 1st and am much more prepared and educated about this whole process and am very thankful for the time that I had to reflect on my decision.
Everyone kept saying things happen for a reason and although it infuriated me at first becuase all of the scheduling and figuring out who was gonna take the kids what day and cover my 2nd job, etc. It really has made all the difference in the world- I have no doubts that I am doing the right thing, my family is all the way on board instead of constantly asking me if I am "trying hard enough" and I just feel 100% confident that this will be the life changing tool that I have need all along and just chose to continue to be stubborn and try to do it on my own. Well all that did was allow co-morbities to rear their ugly heads and become part of my life. SO bottom line- this the place to be! Welcome!! Andrea

jamie,
Welcome! i've been on the board since March and it's been a great resource all this time. Some people from this board have get togethers in real life and swap clothes, recipes and stories. It's a lot of fun.
