New/Intro
Hello,
I am finally exploring OH and thought I would introduce myself now that I have an idea of how to navigate the sight :~)
I am 28 years old, married with two boys (1 and 4 yo) and live just outside of Worcester. I teach children with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. I had surgery 7/15/08 (two weeks ago) and am already down 25lbs to date!! I am so excited!!
I am definitely having trouble consumimg the suggesed 60-80 grams of protein and 64-128 oz of fluid. Any suggestions? The isopure just isn't doing it for me - the after taste stinks. And those powdered shakes are to chalky. I know I should just suck it up - but its hard, especially since fluids are all I can have.
I am looking for people who are open to answering any questions that may arise as well as individuals who may want to share successes and challenges.
Thanks!
Amy
Hi Amy --welcome and congratulations!
I had my surgery the week before you! I did use the Isopure..the blue one and I would have 2 carnation inst. breakfasts(with lactose free milk). I am thinking you are close to changing over to stage 3 if that how your doc does it. Will they let you have yogurt...or if they want thin items..you could milk down your yogurt yet still get the protein in.
I am sure others here, and on the RNY Forum will be able to offer up some good advise.
Joan
Thanks,
Amy

First, WELCOME to OH! You will find it a great source of support and information.
I am new to the Mass board (just moved to Worcester in June), but was on the NH Board for the past year.
I remember those first few weeks after surgery. My NUT had suggested adding protein powders to soups and yogurts, and the glasses of milk, so that it ups your protein intake. I found that the 100% whey proteins from GNC were what worked for me. In fact, at 15 months out, I will still add a scoop to my CIB in the morning. I LOVE their Chocolate Caramel flavored one, as well as the Banana Creme.
Best wishes in this new phase of your life.. you will LOVE IT !!
